Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Fulfill a meaningful role supporting students as a Sign Language Interpreter, working one-on-one within an educational environment. This full-time contract opportunity begins August 10, 2026, and extends through May 28, 2027, providing consistent hours—37.5 hours each week—across the academic year. Your expertise will enhance the learning experience for a student who is Deaf or hard of hearing, making a direct impact on access and engagement in the classroom.
District leadership anticipates final budget and open position notifications by June 8, with a high likelihood (90%) of interviews occurring the following week. Placement specifics, including the number of assigned schools, will be determined after onboarding.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of interpreting within educational settings
- EIPA certification, level 3 or higher, OR
- National certifications—RID: NIC, NAD, Educational Certificate: K-12, or OTC
- Experience providing individualized interpreter services for school-aged students
- Strong commitment to accurate, confidential, and culturally competent communication
- Ability to complete time-sensitive credentialing and onboarding processes, including forms and agreement signings, as required by the district
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver one-to-one interpreting services for a designated student throughout the school day
- Facilitate clear communication between students, educators, and peers
- Interpret classroom instruction, school activities, and other educational events
- Collaborate with education staff to support student integration and success
- Uphold professional ethical standards and maintain confidentiality
