Position: Logistics Specialist Location: Headquarters Houston, TX Job Id: 134 # of Openings: 1 Logistics Specialist Overview The Logistics Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day execution, monitoring, coordination, and support of ALTIVIA's transportation activities across all modes, including truck, rail, barge, and ocean freight. This role serves as a key liaison between manufacturing facilities, customer service, customers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation operations. The Logistics Specialist will manage transportation execution, shipment visibility, carrier coordination, customer support, freight payment administration, transportation reporting, vendor maintenance, and exception management. This position reports to the Logistics Supervisor and is based in Houston, TX. Job Responsibilities Coordinate daily transportation activities across ALTIVIA business units utilizing truck, rail, barge, and ocean transportation.Monitor shipment status and ensure timely pickup and delivery performance.Support carrier assignments, equipment availability, and transportation capacity requirements, escalating issues as needed.Review bills of lading, shipping instructions, manifests, and transportation documentation for accuracy.Investigate and resolve shipment delays, service failures, freight claims, and other transportation exceptions.Coordinate routing and service issues with carriers and transportation providers.Maintain shipment visibility using transportation management and tracking systems.Support manufacturing facilities with transportation planning and execution requirements.Communicate shipment status updates and transportation issues to internal stakeholders and customers. Carrier & Transportation Provider Coordination Request freight rates from approved transportation providers as required to support shipment execution.Maintain strong working relationships with carriers, terminals, brokers, ocean carriers, warehouses, and transportation service providers.Coordinate service issues and operational challenges with transportation partners.Support carrier onboarding and qualification processes.Maintain carrier contact information and transportation distribution lists.Escalate recurring service concerns or capacity issues to management. Customer & Facility Support Serve as a primary point of contact for transportation-related inquiries.Coordinate customer requests related to shipment execution, loading requirements, delivery appointments, equipment availability, and service exceptions.Support resolution of freight-related service issues across all transportation modes.Partner with Customer Care, Operations, Supply Chain, and Product Management teams to support order fulfillment requirements.Assist customer service personnel with transportation challenges, carrier communications, and shipment tracking activities. Financial & Administrative Support Review and validate freight invoices and supporting documentation for payment processing.Investigate freight billing discrepancies and coordinate resolution with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.Maintain monthly freight accruals and support transportation expense reconciliation activities.Coordinate with Accounts Payable to ensure timely invoice processing and maintain transportation invoice approval workflows.Support alignment of customer freight charges and transportation expenses in partnership with Customer Care and Product Management.Identify and recommend improvements to transportation invoicing, payment processes, and administrative workflows. Vendor Administration & Compliance Maintain carrier, vendor, and transportation service provider records.Research, qualify, and onboard transportation service providers by obtaining required documentation and coordinating internal approval and compliance requirements.Maintain W-9s, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), vendor enrollment records, and related documentation.Ensure transportation service providers meet company qualification requirements.Support transportation compliance documentation and audit requests.Maintain transportation records in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.Support compliance with DOT, hazardous materials, railroad, maritime, and company transportation requirements. Equipment Coordination Coordinate transportation equipment availability and utilization activities.Support trailer, container, railcar, and transportation equipment tracking.Manage company vehicle registration records and renewal requirements.Coordinate with internal stakeholders and service providers regarding equipment availability and maintenance events.Escalate equipment-related issues requiring management attention. Reporting & Analysis Maintain transportation performance data and records.Generate recurring and ad hoc transportation reports.Track carrier service performance, freight expenses, and operational metrics.Analyze transportation trends and identify process improvement opportunities.Maintain transportation dashboards and reporting tools as required. Compliance & Safety Ensure transportation activities are conducted in accordance with company safety standards and applicable regulatory requirements.Support compliance with DOT, FRA, hazardous materials, maritime, and other transportation regulations as applicable.Support transportation compliance audits, inspections, filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.Participate in transportation safety initiatives, audits, inspections, and corrective action activities.Support continuous improvement related to transportation safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.Coordinate with internal stakeholders and transportation providers to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory and company transportation standards. Qualifications and Skills: Strong communication and relationship-building skills with customers, carriers, vendors, and internal teams.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint) and transportation systems (TMS/ERP).Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving abilities.Self-motivated, results-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across functions. Education, Experience Requirements: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent requiredBachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or business2-5 years of transportation, logistics, supply chain, or rail operations experience preferred.
