Facilities & Maintenance TechnicianWe are seeking a dependable, hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day maintenance, repair, safety, and upkeep of two distribution facilities.This position is responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, repairing, and coordinating a wide variety of facility and equipment needs. The ideal candidate is a versatile problem-solver who is comfortable working independently, prioritizing multiple projects, performing preventive maintenance, and determining when specialized outside contractors are required.This is not a position focused on one specific trade. The successful candidate will have broad mechanical and facility-maintenance experience and be willing to tackle a variety of projects involving electrical, plumbing, refrigeration support, loading docks, doors, security systems, building repairs, grounds, equipment, and general facility improvements.The position is primarily based at our Kent facility but will provide support to our Portland location, requiring travel approximately two to three days per month.Essential ResponsibilitiesFacility Maintenance & RepairPerform routine and corrective maintenance throughout warehouse, cooler, office, shop, dock, and exterior facility areas.Troubleshoot and repair doors, gates, locks, closers, seals, strip curtains, fencing, bollards, shelving, racks, walls, ceilings, and other building components.Perform minor plumbing repairs, including faucets, sinks, drains, condensate lines, hoses, toilets, and water lines.Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs involving lighting, outlets, switches, photocells, conduit, wiring, electrical connections, and related equipment within the employee's qualifications.Maintain and replace facility lighting, including interior, exterior, dock, yard, security, and emergency/exit lighting.Assist with HVAC and refrigeration-related maintenance, including filters, evaporators, coils, condensate drainage, fans, and troubleshooting.Inspect and maintain air compressors, pumps, pit pumps, drainage systems, and related facility equipment.Grounds & Exterior MaintenanceMaintain exterior areas including parking lots, docks, ramps, fences, drainage areas, landscaping, and building exteriors.Perform vegetation control, tree and brush cleanup, pressure washing, minor asphalt/concrete repairs, and general property upkeep.Maintain exterior lighting, gutters, drainage systems, parking areas, and facility access points.Fabrication & Special ProjectsPerform light fabrication, construction, modification, and installation projects as needed.Build or modify racks, guards, brackets, storage solutions, workstations, and other facility components.Assist with office moves, mounting equipment, installing signage, TVs, shelving, and other workplace improvements.Support facility renovation and improvement projects as assigned.Minimum QualificationsPrevious experience in facilities maintenance, industrial maintenance, warehouse maintenance, building maintenance, construction, mechanical repair, or a related field.Broad mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems independently.Working knowledge of several of the following areas:Basic electrical systemsPlumbingHVAC/refrigeration supportLoading docks and commercial doorsPumps and compressorsSecurity/access-control systemsGeneral construction and building repairWelding or light fabricationVehicle or trailer maintenanceAbility to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, and maintenance equipment.Ability to prioritize work based on safety, operational impact, and urgency.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.Valid driver's license and ability to travel between company locations.Willingness to respond to occasional urgent facility issues as needed.Stable and dependable work history.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in a warehouse, distribution center, food distribution, cold-storage, manufacturing, or similar industrial environment.Experience maintaining refrigerated or temperature-controlled facilities.Experience with commercial loading docks, dock levelers, overhead doors, and warehouse equipment.Basic welding, fabrication, electrical, or mechanical experience.Familiarity with OSHA requirements and workplace safety practices.Experience coordinating outside contractors and maintenance vendors.Physical RequirementsThis is an active, hands-on position. The employee must be able to:Regularly stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and work in warehouse and facility environments.Safely use ladders and approved lift equipment.Work periodically in refrigerated, outdoor, wet, dusty, or noisy environments.Lift and carry tools, equipment, parts, and maintenance materials consistent with company safety requirements.Perform work both indoors and outdoors throughout the year.What Success Looks LikeA successful Facilities & Maintenance Technician helps keep our facilities safe, operational, secure, and well maintained.
