Manager Nursing

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position

Assumes 24-hour responsibility for supervising and coordinating the administrative and operational activities in the assigned areas. Collaborates with ancillary and interdisciplinary teams to develop goals and objectives based on analysis of clinical data to improve patient outcomes and create a culture of excellence. Responsible for achieving targeted KPIs and identified outcomes at the unit level.

Essential Job Functions

• Provides daily operational oversight management and clinical support to the health care team.

• Serves as a professional role model mentor and clinical resource.

• Responsible for personal and professional growth as well as fostering an environment where interdisciplinary team members can contribute to optimal patient outcomes and grow professionally.

• Responsible for modeling core cultural and safety behaviors to eliminate preventable harm and implement high reliability principles.

• Responsible for meeting productivity targets for assigned department .

• Responsible for implementation of strategic initiatives

• Supports the mission and vision of the organization.

Licensing/Certification

Current RN license in state they are working or covered by compact (required)

BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire must obtain from approved source prior to entering patient care setting) for BSMH locations. Required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations)

Certifications required based on the unit(s) that the leader oversees and the requirements for those specific units:

• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred)

• ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support (preferred)

• NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program (preferred)

• TNCC Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (preferred)

• ENPC Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (preferred)

• National Board Certification Specialty (preferred)

• Nurse Executive Certification or designated specialty certification (preferred)

Education

Bachelor of Science Nursing (required)

Masters of Science Nursing or Masters in Health Administration or related field (preferred for BSMH locations required for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations )

Work Experience

3 years minimum experience as a professional nurse with demonstrated leadership capabilities (required)

1 year experience in appropriate specialty area (preferred)

Prior management/supervisory experience (preferred)
