Requirements for the Substitute Teacher To become a Substitute Teacher, you must: Complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check (contact Penmac for details before beginning this step) Complete required training provided by Penmac Education Staffing Be dependable, professional, and committed to maintaining a positive learning environment Substitute Teacher Responsibilities As a Substitute Teacher, you will: Follow lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to ensure continuity in student learning Manage the classroom effectively to encourage participation and minimize distractions Adapt instructional methods to meet the needs of individual students Supervise students in classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and playgrounds Assign and collect classroom work based on the teacher's lesson plans Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment For long-term assignments, develop lesson plans and assignments that align with existing curriculum and instructional goals Pay and Benefits Starting pay: $80 per full day Opportunities for higher daily rates based on longevity or certifications Flexible scheduling with the ability to choose available assignments Weekly pay Affordable health insurance available from your first day of employment with no waiting period Retirement benefit options available for eligible employees Why Penmac?
