Position Overview

On behalf of our esteemed client in San Antonio. We are seeking a hands-on, passionate, detail-oriented Sous Chef to support high-volume kitchen operations. Our client is a prominent, thriving brand known for exceptional hospitality, scratch-made quality, and vibrant guest experiences.

We are looking for a strong culinary leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at executing at a high level during peak rushes, and genuinely cares about mentoring and developing the kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities
Culinary Execution & Quality Control

• Ensure flawless daily execution of all menu items, maintaining absolute consistency in taste, presentation, and quality.
• Lead the line during high-volume shifts, maintaining a commanding presence over food safety, sanitation, and kitchen flow.
• Assist the Executive Chef with recipe standardization, prep planning, and inventory control.

Team Mentorship & Leadership

• Coach, train, and inspire line cooks and prep staff, fostering a positive, inclusive, and kind kitchen culture built on mutual respect.
• Lead by example on the floor, providing hands-on training and constructive feedback to drive continuous professional growth.
• Help manage daily shift scheduling, task delegation, and team accountability.

Operational Support

• Assist with managing food and labor costs, minimizing waste, and maintaining strict adherence to kitchen budgets and P&L targets.
• Oversee receiving, proper rotation, and storage of inventory to ensure top-tier product quality.
• Uphold strict health code, safety, and sanitation standards across all prep and cooking stations.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of culinary leadership experience (Sous Chef or strong Kitchen Supervisor) in high-volume, scratch-kitchen concepts. Experience working in high-volume environments with significant annual sales is strongly preferred.
• Leadership Style: A collaborative, kind, and coaching-oriented leader who builds up their team and values people.
• Execution Skills: Exceptional organizational skills, composure under intense pressure, and a proven ability to maintain precision during busy rushes.
• Technical Acumen: Solid understanding of kitchen P&L basics, food cost controls, inventory management, and food safety standards.
• Certifications: ServSafe Manager certification (or equivalent) required. A culinary degree is a plus, but hands-on experience is paramount.
