Position Overview:

The Labor & Delivery unit features 16 labor/delivery/recovery beds, 5 obstetric triage beds, and a surgical suite with 3 operating rooms dedicated to cesarean deliveries.

Your role will involve offering support and assistance before, during, and after surgical procedures. You will ensure that surgical equipment and supplies are correctly arranged and available in the operating room for each procedure. Additionally, you will assist the surgeon during operations as permitted by professional and legal standards and help maintain cleanliness in the operating room post-procedure, ensuring proper handling of equipment and materials. You will report directly to the Manager.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of one year of prior experience as a Surgical Technologist is required, with a preference for experience in Cesarean sections.
• Completion of a surgical technician program is necessary.
• Certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) is required or must be obtained within one year of employment.
• Current CPR and BLS certification, along with participation in annual Validation Day, is mandatory.
• Familiarity with various surgical procedures, including the ability to anticipate the surgeon's needs and recognize potential challenges.
• Knowledge of the names and functions of surgical instruments and equipment is essential.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial.
• Adherence to policies and regulations regarding the maintenance of a sterile field is required.
• Understanding of basic patient care and safety principles is necessary.
• Application of aseptic principles to ensure optimal patient care, along with knowledge of operating room emergency situations.
