This role offers consistent weekday scheduling in a hospital laboratory environment with the opportunity for ongoing coverage until a permanent provider is hired, followed by vacation coverage support. The Pathology Assistant will be responsible for specimen grossing and pathology workflow support, ensuring completion of the daily caseload prior to shift end. Coverage will primarily be at the main facility, with occasional support opportunities at affiliated locations as needed. Responsibilities Perform gross examination and preparation of surgical pathology specimens Accurately gross and document pathology specimens for diagnostic processing Ensure completion of daily pathology caseload prior to end of shift Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory teams to maintain workflow efficiency Maintain accurate specimen documentation and reporting standards Follow laboratory safety, quality, and compliance protocols Assist with pathology operational workflow and specimen management Working Hours Monday – Friday Day Shift: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM 1 Hour Unpaid Lunch Overtime available if needed to complete daily caseload No Call Required Skills Surgical Pathology Grossing Specimen Preparation & Processing Gross Examination of Tissue Samples Laboratory Workflow Management Pathology Documentation & Reporting Quality Assurance & Compliance Case Prioritization & Time Management Multidisciplinary Collaboration Clinical Laboratory Procedures Attention to Detail in Specimen Analysis Qualifications Pathology Assistant experience required ASCP Certification required Strong grossing experience required Ability to independently manage and complete daily caseloads Must be able to credential with multiple health systems if needed NPI not applicable for this role Working Environment Primary coverage at hospital laboratory in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina Possible additional coverage at affiliated facilities in Hilton Head and Columbia Credentialing may be required with multiple health systems Ongoing assignment until permanent hire, followed by vacation coverage needs Schedule Availability Needed June 29 – July 6 (weekday schedule) Additional required coverage: July 15 – July 17 Compensation Top Paying Locums Opportunity — Inquire for details Location Murrells Inlet, South Carolina Requirements Updated CV/Resume ASCP Certification Grossing Experience Ability to Cover Required Dates Credentialing Documentation as Needed
