RESPONSIBILITES
- Assesses students' communication skills in the areas of articulation, fluency, voice, and expressive and receptive language for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining program eligibility and developing recommendations for treatment.
- Collaborates with a variety of groups and individuals (parents, basic education teachers, administration, ESE teacher, district staffing specialist, school nurse, occupational therapist, physical therapist, school psychologist, social worker, and other district personnel and professionals) for the purpose of communicating information, resolving issues, providing services in compliance with established guidelines, providing requested information, developing plans for service, making recommendations, and coordinating services with those of other disciplines.
- Coordinates and conducts meetings and processes for eligible students (speech and language evaluations, screenings, Individual Education Plans, parent conferences, problem solving meetings, in-school staffings, ESE staffings, etc.) for the purpose of presenting evaluation results, developing treatment plans, and providing information to parents, students, school staff, and district personnel.
- Conducts speech and language reevaluations to determine present levels of performance and continued eligibility.
- Designs therapeutic strategies for the purpose of modifying communicative behavior in the areas of articulation, fluency, voice, and expressive and receptive language.
- Develops treatment plans, interventions and educational materials for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of communication disorders in compliance with school, district, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Interprets medical reports within the scope of Speech Language Pathologist’s experience and goals for the purpose of providing information and ensuring that treatment and intervention plans are appropriate.
- Maintains confidentiality for the purpose of protection of students, staff, parents, and school.
- Maintains files and records (speech and language working folders, ESE program files, IEP Accessibility Log, ESE TERMS reports, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of information as required for reference and compliance.
- Prepares a wide variety of written materials (weekly therapy logs, parent/teacher/district personnel correspondence, annual IEPs, quarterly progress reports, treatment plans, speech and language evaluation reports, monthly consult logs, data entry forms, required documentation, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and conveying information.
- Prepares Individual Educational Plans annually for each student based on individually assessed needs in accordance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
- Schedules therapy using a variety of service delivery models, including classroom intervention, consultation, and pull-out as appropriate to meet student needs in the least restrictive environment.
- Provides speech and language therapy to students for the purpose of minimizing the adverse impact of speech and language disorders on student educational success.
- Researches resources and methods (intervention and treatment techniques, assessment tools and methods, community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining the appropriate approach for addressing students' needs.
- Responds to inquiries (parents, teachers, staff, students, district personnel, etc.) for the purpose of providing information and referrals as appropriate.
- Coordinates use of quarterly ESE accommodation forms with basic education teachers to assist with documentation of ESE program accommodations in the basic education classroom.
- Conducts monthly speech and language consultation meetings with basic education teachers for progress monitoring of student goals.
- Organizes, schedules, coordinates, and conducts grade-wide health screenings with school nurse, medical personnel in the community, parent volunteers, and school office staff.
- Screens all ESE and gifted referral candidates for hearing loss.
- Provides speech and/or hearing screening tests for all students referred by the in-school staffing committee.
- Prepares initial and updated data entry forms for data entry personnel to reflect current services, exceptionality, and minutes of service.
- Develops matrix of service for speech and language students.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars (school-based staff development, district ESE training, IEPs, district speech meetings, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and gathering information.
- Furthers personal education via staff development and continuing education courses for the purpose of staying current with the latest and best practices, and learning new theories and technologies.

Requirements:- All employees must be fingerprinted and pass a background screening process by the Clearinghouse.
- Master’s degree or completion of the academic requirements of a doctoral program, with a major emphasis in speech-language pathology (MA-CERT/CCC)
- Current Florida State Speech Language Pathologist license
- 1 year professional employment experience
