Safety Superintendent

A Safety Supervisor in civil construction is responsible for implementing and enforcing safety programs, conducting site inspections, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards. They work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and field personnel to identify hazards, promote safe work practices, and maintain a culture focused on injury prevention and operational excellence. Client Details Our client is a leading heavy civil contractor specializing in bridge construction, rehabilitation, foundations, retaining walls, dams, culverts, structural rehabilitation, and other complex infrastructure projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. With extensive experience performing work for transportation agencies, bridge commissions, municipalities, railroads, and private clients, they have completed numerous bridge replacements, rehabilitations, and design-build projects for organizations such as PennDOT, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, SEPTA, and local government agencies. Description Lead and enforce company-wide safety initiatives across bridge and heavy civil construction projects. Conduct site inspections, safety audits, job hazard analyses, and incident investigations to identify and correct potential risks. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, client requirements, and company safety policies and procedures. Develop, deliver, and maintain safety training programs, toolbox talks, and new hire orientations. Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field personnel to integrate safety into all phases of construction operations. Maintain safety documentation, regulatory records, and reporting requirements. Monitor subcontractor safety performance and ensure consistent adherence to project safety standards. Analyze safety trends, recommend corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. Serve as the primary safety resource for field operations, providing guidance on safe work practices, equipment usage, and emergency response procedures. Foster a proactive safety culture that emphasizes accountability, teamwork, and incident prevention. Profile 5+ years of construction safety experience within bridge, heavy civil, or infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and construction best practices. Experience conducting safety inspections, audits, investigations, and training programs. Ability to communicate effectively with field personnel, project management, clients, and regulatory agencies.
