Network Engineer

ResponsibilitiesPeraton is looking for a Network Engineer to work on site in Washington DC for our Department of Labor contract. This position will be responsible for providing support and maintaining enterprise-wide and local network infrastructure support along with ensuring deployments are properly implemented.Day to Day Work Duties:Supports and maintains enterprise-wide area and local area network infrastructures and technology for running an enterprise network.Works with strategic network alliances, especially with technology partners, to enhance the business unit's competitive positioning.Ensure technical standards and processes are followed to ensure reliable, well-performing data, voice, and video capabilities.Ensure all technology deployments are properly implemented, documented and supported.Works in a consultative fashion with other departments to ensure all networking needs are met.Monitors network performance to ensure service levels are achieved or exceeded consistently.Remain current with emerging industry trends, identify new functionality to meet business needs, and foster knowledge sharing.Work with minimal supervision and be responsible for independently. Apply sound judgment, escalating issues and decisions to the appropriate executive when necessary.Performs other duties as assigned by management.QualificationsBasic Qualifications: Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD; 12 years with a HS DiplomaWorking knowledge of Cisco Networking hardware products, particularly the 9000 series of LAN switches, wireless LAN controllers and access points, with a strong knowledge of Cisco ASA firewallsStrong understanding of monitoring systems and protocols such as SNMP, SYSLOG, NETCONF, and TFTP.Knowledge of SolarWinds, ServiceNow, DNA Center, ISE, Wireless 802.11, Wifi6Looking for someone who understands Routing and Switching protocols on a Cisco infrastructure. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
