Certified Pipe Welder job at VIP Staffing. Austin, TX. Immediately hiring a Certified Pipe Welder (stick) for a large company. The commercial job site is located in South Austin. Pay is $49.92/hr. Schedule is Mon-Fri 7 am-3:30 pm (OT as needed). Pipe Welder duties: Perform shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) on various types of piping, typically carbon steel or stainless steel. Weld pipe in various positions (horizontal, vertical, overhead, 6G) as required by job specifications. Fit and align pipe sections, elbows, valves, and flanges using clamps, wedges, and precision tools. Perform root passes, hot passes, fill and cap passes to ensure full weld penetration and structural integrity Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams). Cut, bevel, and grind pipe ends using power tools or torches. Weld to certified standards, often per ASME, AWS D1.1/D1.6, or similar codes. Pass weld tests (e.g., 6G certification) and perform visual, X-ray, or ultrasonic inspections.
