Manager of Outside Sales

HICO America, headquartered in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania with facilities in Los Angeles, Greensburg, PA, Canonsburg PA and Memphis TN, is part of the Power Systems business unit, in the Industrial Performance Group of the Hyosung Corporation, a large publicly traded corporation based in Seoul, South Korea. The Manager, Outside Sales is responsible for driving the Sales activities across the HICO America suite of products including Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors, Gas-insulated Switching Devices, FACTS & DC Solutions. This role is responsible for empowering, mentoring and guiding a national sales team, with the ultimate goal of growing sales revenue, profitability and securing critical new clientele that will carry the company into the future.

THE NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Lead and manage all outside sales activities across HICO America's portfolio of products and solutions, including Power Transformers, Shunt Reactors, Gas-Insulated Switching Devices, and FACTS & DC Solutions.

• Develop and execute strategic sales plans designed to increase revenue, profitability, and market share across North America.

• Recruit, mentor, coach, and empower a national sales team to achieve individual and organizational performance objectives.

• Establish clear sales goals, performance metrics, and accountability measures to drive consistent business growth.

• Build and strengthen relationships with utility, transmission, distribution, and generation customers to secure new business opportunities and long-term partnerships.

• Identify, prioritize, and develop high-potential customer accounts through account-specific growth strategies and targeted resource allocation.

• Drive business development efforts by identifying emerging market opportunities, competitive threats, and customer needs within the power industry.

• Collaborate with engineering, project management, operations, and executive leadership teams to develop customized customer solutions.

• Lead complex sales pursuits and negotiations for large-scale equipment and infrastructure projects.

• Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and forecasting process, ensuring reliable revenue projections and achievement of sales targets.

• Present technical and commercial solutions to customers through in-person meetings, virtual platforms, conferences, and industry events.

• Represent HICO America at customer meetings, trade shows, industry conferences, and technical committee meetings throughout North America.

• Monitor market conditions, customer trends, and competitive activity to inform strategic decision-making and business planning.

• Foster a high-performance, customer-focused sales culture centered on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Ensure customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle by facilitating effective communication and problem-solving across internal and external stakeholders.

EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:

•This position requires reporting to our Pittsburgh PA office

•Travel within the USA and Canada including critical customer meetings, conferences, trade shows and technical committee meetings. International travel will be required on an occasional basis.

•Bachelor's degree; Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) is strongly preferred. Candidates with non-technical degrees must demonstrate a strong technical aptitude to understand technical products and solutions.

•Proficient understanding and use of professional selling techniques

•7+ years of work experience

•3+ years of direct management experience

•Proficient in preparing and delivering Power Point presentations including the use of virtual communication platforms.

Desired:

•Experience selling into the Transmission, Distribution, Generation markets

•Advanced Degree Preferred (MBA)

•Experience selling complex construction type projects (working understanding and experience selling complete substation solutions preferred)
