As a DSP, you will be responsible for maintaining consistent engagement with the people you are supporting, whether they are at home or out in the community. You will be required to work independently, create safe environments, and provide accurate documentation for the support provided during every shift. Duties may include:Supporting people in understanding and exercising their rightsEncouraging people to live a fulfilling life as independently as possible through self-advocacyProviding the best person-centered supports to meet people’s needs throughout their livesSupporting and encouraging positive interactionsImproving social connections and relationshipsProviding transportation for those you are supportingTeaching skills to improve a person’s lifeSupporting and encouraging participation in groups or organizations in line with a person’s personal interests to meet recreational and social needsUtilizing Positive Support Programs to guide daily interactionsSupporting a person with personal hygiene and medical-related needs, including medication administrationProviding documentation at the end of each shiftDSPs who work at ILC locations support individuals with planned activities that encourage community inclusion, habilitation, and activities of daily living.Vocational Hours of Operation: Monday through Friday: 7am-5pmResidential Hours of Operation: Evenings: 3pm-10pm, Overnights: 10pm-8:30am, and Days Sat/Sun: 8am-3pm.Benefits available for qualifying positions:401(k) with company matchHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceLife insuranceSupplemental insurance offeringsPaid Time OffEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Working Conditions:This work can be physically demanding in some situations. Some physical work examples could be but are not limited to:Intervening in aggressive situation and/or physically demanding responsibilitiesSupport with lifting individuals to and from wheelchairsSupporting a person to and from a showerUsing a gait belt in a safe and dignified wayProviding transportation for the people we support is an essential function of the DSP position.
