Production Supervisor

The Opportunity American Bath Group is seeking a Production Supervisor to strengthen daily manufacturing execution at its Salem facility. This role will provide hands‑on leadership for an assigned production team. The supervisor will establish clear expectations, maintain a visible presence on the floor, address operating issues as they occur, and ensure production priorities move through completion. The position is designed for a manufacturing leader who is comfortable taking direct ownership of people, output, quality, attendance, and daily execution. Success in Year One Success in the first year will mean independently leading an assigned production area and establishing a dependable operating rhythm across staffing, production, quality, communication, and employee accountability. The successful supervisor will help the facility maintain production expectations, improve schedule reliability, reduce avoidable disruption, and strengthen follow‑through. Plant leadership should be able to rely on this person to accept direction, clarify expectations, complete work on time, and raise barriers before they become missed commitments. The role should also reduce the need for senior leaders to intervene in routine frontline matters by creating stronger ownership at the supervisor level. The Mandate Provide high‑effort, floor‑based supervision by setting clear daily expectations, following through on assigned priorities, enforcing workforce accountability, and stabilizing shift execution without requiring constant leadership intervention. The supervisor will translate production priorities into clear employee direction, monitor performance throughout the shift, and intervene when output, attendance, quality, safety, or behavior falls below expectation. This person will be responsible for closing the loop on assigned work. That includes confirming expectations, establishing deadlines, communicating progress, resolving issues within the role, and escalating early when additional support is required. Year One Critical Outcomes Maintain performance against established hourly and shift production expectations. Establish consistent shift‑start communication and production visibility. Improve schedule adherence within the assigned area. Reduce avoidable defects, rework, downtime, and overtime dependency. Maintain current staffing, attendance, and employee‑performance follow‑up. Address employee performance and behavioral concerns promptly and consistently. Complete leadership‑assigned work by agreed deadlines. Escalate barriers early with clear facts and recommended next steps. Improve coordination with maintenance, quality, tooling, supply chain, and other plant functions. Reduce repeated management follow‑up on routine supervisory responsibilities. Specific production measures will be aligned to the area assigned and the operating expectations established by plant leadership. Accepts direct feedback and adjusts behavior when expectations are clarified. Experience Requirements Required Direct experience supervising hourly employees in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated floor presence and real-time production leadership. Experience managing labor deployment, daily priorities, and shift execution. Proven ownership of employee attendance, behavior, or performance matters through resolution. Evidence of completing operational assignments without repeated management follow‑up. Ability to work fully onsite in Salem, Ohio, on the required day‑shift schedule. Preferred Experience supervising a frontline manufacturing team of comparable size and complexity. Experience in a union or similarly structured workforce environment. Experience in plastics, forming, finishing, paint, assembly, or adjacent manufacturing operations. Familiarity with production boards, hourly performance tracking, shift huddles, and documented action lists. Experience strengthening execution within an established production team. Familiarity with progressive discipline, attendance management, quality follow‑up, labor allocation, and shift handoffs. Experience remaining productive through operating change, incomplete processes, or leadership transition.
