Job Description
Director of Product Management, Pricing & Analytics
Merchandising leadership | Industrial distribution
Compensation: $110,000-$135,000 starting annual salary, plus three gain-sharing bonus opportunities each year.
Location: In-office in Sidney, NE. Relocation assistance available for the winning candidate.
Build a stronger team. Make complex work predictable. Turn insight into growth.
Can you turn a complex challenge into a clear plan, help people succeed, and see the work through? Huyett is seeking a leader who can do exactly that across pricing, product data, sourcing, product development, and analytics. Your most important strengths are effective project management, predictable workflows, and the ability to lead and develop people.
The Opportunity
Huyett is a privately held, family-owned company with more than a century of history and an entrepreneurial, community-based culture. Your team's work will shape how customers find and buy from an online assortment of approximately 200,000 SKUs, how we grow product lines, and how we improve sales and margin.
You will lead four direct reports and a team of 12-15 people, including two managers and professionals in category management, pricing, and analytics. This is a leadership role with hands-on analytical work, not a requirement to be the deepest technical specialist in every discipline.
Key responsibilities
• Lead and develop people. Coach managers and specialists, set clear expectations, build practical training, and provide timely feedback. Foster trust, accountability, and increasing capability across the team.
• Deliver projects and dependable workflows. Translate priorities into clear owners, milestones, and completion dates. Establish repeatable processes for pricing changes, new-item setup, product-data maintenance, reporting, and product launches. Coordinate cross-functional handoffs and reduce rework.
• Improve pricing and margin performance. Lead pricing standards and category strategies. Use cost, sales, customer, and margin data to identify opportunities, evaluate trade-offs, and drive profitable growth with sales and other business partners.
• Make product data trustworthy and products easier to find. Improve consistency in descriptions, attributes, units of measure, and category structure. Partner with e-commerce and marketing to make search, filtering, and product selection more useful to customers.
• Grow product lines through sourcing and development. Prioritize extensions of established lines and opportunities in key end markets, including oil and gas. Develop business cases and coordinate supplier evaluation, sourcing, product content, and launches with the appropriate teams.
• Turn analytics into useful decisions. Build and improve reports and tools using advanced Excel, including pivot tables, Power BI, Python, AI, or comparable platforms. Guide specialists, validate data and outputs, and turn analysis into practical actions rather than reporting for its own sake.
What success looks like
Projects finish against agreed priorities and dates. Workflows are documented and dependable. Pricing decisions support sales and margin goals. Product data is consistent and products are easier to find online. Product-line extensions address demonstrated customer needs. Reports and tools improve decisions and save time. Managers and team members grow in capability and ownership.
Ideal Qualifications
• A record of developing people. Experience leading multi-level teams, coaching managers, and improving performance through clear expectations, training, and meaningful feedback.
• Strong project and process management. Evidence that you can prioritize competing needs, coordinate departments, introduce better ways of working, and bring initiatives to completion.
• Commercial judgment and analytical ability. Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, and the ability to build or improve practical reports and tools. Comfort evaluating pricing, profitability, product performance, and data quality.
• Practical technical fluency. Working knowledge of how product, customer, and transaction data connect, and the ability to collaborate on database and reporting improvements. Experience with Power BI, Python, AI-enabled tools, or similar platforms is valuable; mastery of every platform is not required.
• Clear communication and accountable leadership. Sound judgment, attention to detail, a servant-leadership approach, and the ability to build productive cross-functional relationships.
Experience in industrial distribution, manufacturing, category or product management, pricing, e-commerce, or business analytics is valuable. Direct fastener-industry experience is helpful, not required. A degree in business, data science, or a research-related field is preferred.
Benefits and support
• Compensation and retirement. Gain-sharing bonus opportunities three times a year, plus a 401(k) with a generous employer match and full vesting in year one.
• Health and time away. Full benefits, including discounted health insurance options for non-tobacco users, and generous paid-time-off policies, including paid holidays, bereavement, and parental leave.
• A supportive start and team. Comprehensive onboarding, supportive teammates, and meaningful managerial feedback in a fast-paced, team-oriented office environment.
Huyett's Core Values:

- Attentive: We Notice What Others Overlook
- Accountable: We Own It
- Humble: We Check Our Egos at the Door
- Transparent: We Communicate with Clarity and Honesty

Bring examples of a team you developed, a project you delivered, and a process or analytical tool you made better.
