Registered Nurse (Psychiatric) - Job Description

A Psychiatric RN provides specialized nursing care to patients experiencing mental health disorders. They assess, monitor, and support patients through treatment plans, ensuring both physical and emotional well-being in psychiatric settings such as hospitals, clinics, or community facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct Mental Health Assessments
- Evaluate patients' mental status and document symptoms, behaviors, and progress.
Develop and Implement Care Plans
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create individualized treatment plans.
Administer Medications and Treatments
- Safely give psychotropic medications and monitor for side effects or reactions.
Provide Therapeutic Support and Counseling
- Offer emotional support, crisis intervention, and patient education.
Monitor Patient Safety
- Ensure a safe environment by assessing risk factors and preventing self-harm or harm to others.
Maintain Accurate Documentation
- Record patient data, treatment outcomes, and incidents in compliance with legal and clinical standards.
Collaborate with Healthcare Team
- Communicate effectively with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and family members.
