Sr. Manager, USNH Classroom Technology

As a member of the Client Services area of Enterprise Technology & Services, USNH Classroom Technology Sr. Manager provides systemwide leadership for classroom technology, audiovisual systems, and learning space support across the University System of New Hampshire. The position ensures that teaching, learning, collaboration, and event spaces are supported by reliable, sustainable, and effective technology services that align with academic priorities and institutional goals. Serving as both a strategic leader and operational partner, the role connects systemwide planning with campus-based service delivery. It provides direction to technical teams, supports coordination among campus team leads, vendors, and stakeholders, and promotes consistent standards, responsive support, and continuous improvement across classroom and event technology services. Based out of the UNH Durham campus, position will be required to travel to the various USNH Campuses to provide support, mentoring and to oversee projects as needed. Duties/Responsibilities Strategic Leadership and Planning: (50%) Develop and implement short- and long-range classroom technology strategies that align with institutional priorities, support the academic mission, and promote the effective use of limited technology resources. Guide budget planning, equipment lifecycle management, technology standards, and operational priorities across USNH while evaluating services, processes, and procedures against industry best practices, including ITSM principles. Identify gaps between current operations and desired service outcomes, establish goals, align work across operating locations, and take corrective action to support consistent service standards and measurable results. Lead administrative functions that support classroom technology operations, including annual and multi-year budget planning, cost tracking, purchasing coordination, bid development, procurement documentation, and alignment of expenditures with institutional priorities, technology standards, and lifecycle replacement plans. Prepare and coordinate technical specifications, scopes of work, bid materials, vendor evaluations, contract documents, renewals, and amendments; monitor vendor performance to ensure contract terms, deliverables, timelines, and service expectations are met. Manage Learning Space Technology projects from planning through implementation, including scope definition, schedules, resources, risks, stakeholder communications, vendor coordination, acceptance testing, documentation, and transition to ongoing support. Distributed Field Support: (20%) Coordinate, advise, and support campus-based team leads, AV field technicians, audiovisual engineers, and classroom support specialists across USNH campuses to promote consistent service delivery, clear escalation paths, effective resource coordination, and timely response to classroom technology needs. Balance local campus requirements with systemwide priorities, shared standards, and service expectations while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, supporting professional growth, and coordinating training that helps faculty and staff effectively use classroom and meeting space technologies. Set direction, establish goals, coordinate work, and align priorities across operating locations to support consistent service delivery, effective resource coordination, and achievement of established service standards and metrics. AV and Space Management: (15%) Oversee the planning, design, installation, support, and lifecycle management of USNH learning spaces and campus event spaces so they effectively support instruction, presentation, collaboration, accessibility, safety, and day-to-day operations. Apply knowledge of teaching and learning best practices, classroom design principles, audiovisual systems, ADA accessibility requirements, and applicable fire code considerations to create effective, compliant, and sustainable environments for faculty, staff, students, and guests. Partner with faculty, academic leadership, campus space planners, facilities staff, architects, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure technology and space design decisions align with instructional goals and enhance the learning experience. Special Event Support: (15%) Supervise the UNH Special Events Technician and provide AV consultation, planning, coordination, and operational oversight for major special events across USNH. Partner with campus stakeholders, event organizers, facilities teams, vendors, and AV field staff to assess event goals, technical requirements, venue capabilities, staffing needs, equipment availability, accessibility considerations, and potential service risks. Recommend appropriate audiovisual solutions, coordinate pre-event planning and testing, support day-of-event readiness, and ensure reliable technology support for high-visibility institutional events, including ceremonies, academic programs, leadership events, public forums, and events that require dependable presentation, streaming, recording, or collaboration technologies. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in educational technology, information technology, instructional design, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred. Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in educational technology, audiovisual services, instructional support, or IT management, preferably in a higher education environment. Relevant professional credentials, such as ITIL V4., and AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), are preferred. Incumbent will be required to complete the AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS), with in 6 months of hire date. Valid Driver’s license and the ability to pass the USNH Defensive Driving Test to drive University owned vehicles. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong knowledge of audiovisual system design, large event support, network infrastructure, and applicable privacy and compliance requirements such as ADA, FERPA and HIPAA. Broad knowledge of new construction and renovation planning and processes including developing design documents, specifications, and bids for audiovisual technology and working with architects, project managers, facilities staff, contractors, and trades people. Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills, including the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences, prepare clear documentation and decision materials, coordinate competing priorities, and support effective planning and follow-through across teams and stakeholder groups. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across the organization and build productive relationships with colleagues, partners, and users with a wide range of working styles and perspective. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading complex technology initiatives and managing multiple concurrent projects, budgets timelines, vendors, and stakeholder expectations; formal project management training or certification preferred. Experience supporting classroom technology, instructional spaces, or academic technology services within a college or university setting. Exceptional level of personal initiative, a concern for achievement, results-oriented and a demonstrated ability to create and sustain a positive working environment. Highly motivated self-starter with demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team. Ability to lead technology change initiatives, build stakeholder alignment, and support adoption of new classroom and collaboration tools. Experience developing or maintaining classroom technology standards, documentation, and governance processes across multiple campuses or departments. Commitment to service excellence, with the judgment to balance user needs, operational requirements, and institutional priorities.
