CNA Training Track (Support Aide)

Salary $18.20 / hourly Overview Are you a caretaker at heart? Whether a nursing student, former CNA, HHA or PCA, this paid training track offers the chance to provide direct care to residents while earning a paycheck. We provide a three‑week CNA training course—two weeks of classroom instruction and one week of clinical practice—on a support aide schedule, after which you become a certified CNA. The course is paid and includes the cost of the certification exam and onboarding requirements. Training Course Details The course runs Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (times may vary slightly). During the first two weeks you will complete classroom training; the third week will be clinical. After passing, your status and pay will be updated from Support Aide to CNA. Elderwood covers the CNA certification test and any required onboarding such as PPD and physical examinations for eligible candidates. Training is paid—employees are clocked in and compensated while training. Responsibilities Transport residents or accompany ambulatory residents to various locations such as dining, activity, therapy or treatment areas. Make unoccupied resident beds as assigned. Assist in the dining room with food service under licensed therapy staff—passing trays, cutting meat, opening cartons. Distribute supplemental nourishment to residents as directed. Conduct informal activities on the unit when time permits. Supply fresh water in resident rooms as directed. Prepare bed and bedwear for residents at the hour of sleep. Keep general areas of the assigned unit neat and orderly. Clean resident equipment (wheelchair, gaiter, bed, etc.) as assigned. Keep room of residents orderly as assigned. Notify therapist of any unusual incidents regarding residents. Qualifications Minimum age 16 with high school diploma or equivalent. Employment certificate/permit required for ages 16–17. No findings or convictions of resident abuse, mistreatment, or property misappropriation through any licensing agency. Regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, or supervisors; must read, write, speak, and understand English at an intermediate or higher level.
