Are you interested in learning a skilled trade and building a career in manufacturing? Connectronics is looking for motivated, dependable, and hands-on individuals to join our team as Machinist Trainees at our Edinburgh, Indiana facility. 

No previous machining experience is required! This is an opportunity to learn from experienced machinists, develop valuable technical skills, and gain hands-on experience working with precision machine tools in a manufacturing environment.

As a Machinist Trainee, you will work under the guidance of experienced machinists to learn how to set up and operate machine tools safely and accurately.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Learn to set up and operate lathes, milling machines, boring machines, grinders, and other machining equipment.
• Follow instructions, established procedures, and guidance provided by experienced machinists.
• Learn to read and follow technical drawings and work instructions.
• Assist in machining metal and nonmetal workpieces according to specifications.
• Become familiar with machining equipment, tools, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Develop basic measurement, mathematical, and problem-solving skills needed for machining operations.
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
• Demonstrate a willingness to learn, accept feedback, and continuously improve.

Qualifications and requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English and follow basic technical instructions.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to learn new skills and follow instructions.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to safety and quality.
• Willingness to work collaboratively with team members and experienced machinists.

Previous machining experience is not required. We provide the opportunity to learn and develop the skills needed to succeed in this role.

This position involves hands-on work in a manufacturing environment. Candidates must be able to perform the essential job functions, with reasonable accommodations available as required.

• Stand and walk throughout an eight-hour workday.
• Frequently use hands and arms to handle, manipulate, and reach for parts and tools.
• Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Demonstrate close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
