Physical Therapist - Inpatient

Position Overview Join our team as an Inpatient Physical Therapist, supporting patients primarily within the K4 inpatient rehabilitation unit. You will work Monday–Friday in eight‑hour shifts with rotating weekends, with options to float to outpatient neuro populations and work with stroke, brain injury, and spinal cord injury patients. Collaboration with PT, OT, SLP, nursing, and medical staff is essential to develop integrated care plans. Job Responsibilities Interpret and follow medical prescriptions for Physical Therapy, applying accepted principles and procedures to assess patient strengths and limitations and assist in achieving short‑ and long‑term goals. Administer and interpret clinical physical therapy services, adjusting treatments based on patient responses to the treatment protocol. Maintain accurate records of each patient’s treatment, progress, and regression using paper or electronic systems, ensuring compliance with reimbursement and regulatory requirements. Establish effective working relationships with patients, families, and staff; participate in care conferences and provide patient and family education as needed. Plan post‑discharge placement decisions, make referrals, follow up for proper placement, and interface with vendors for durable medical equipment. Provide direction to Physical Therapist Assistants, support staff, clerical staff, students, and volunteers. Participate in departmental and organizational initiatives for performance improvement. Pursue professional development and contribute to departmental learning. Meet defined individual and departmental productivity targets as defined by clinical service areas. Comply with proper hand hygiene protocols to ensure patient safety. Position Qualifications Minimum Required: Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy, holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent) in physical therapy. Possession of a current license or eligibility to be licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of New York. CPR certification within the first three months of hire. Preferred: Master’s or Doctorate Degree. Previous physical therapy experience in a hospital‑based setting.
