Job Description CBS Sports is the digital stadium for millions of fans. While our apps own the "second screen," our Web platform is where the world comes for the "Big Story. We are fundamentally reimagining digital sports journalism. By leaning into AI-assisted workflows, we’ve unlocked the ability to ship immersive, "vibe-coded" scrollytelling experiences at a scale and cadence that used to be impossible. We’re moving past static articles toward data-rich, interactive events that capture the energy of the game in real-time. We are looking for a versatile, AI-forward Product Designer to help lead this charge. About the Role: The High-Polished Hybrid This isn’t a role for a specialist who stays in one lane. You will be the bridge between deep-dive journalism and high-end web technology. While much of your time will be spent creating "Snowfall-style" long-form narratives—using parallax, fluid animations, and immersive data viz—you are also a core member of the design team. Your mandate is broad: Immersive Storytelling: Use the latest AI toolsets to turn our biggest editorial moments into high-fidelity, interactive masterpieces that feel alive. Visual Craft & Ideation: You’ll be called upon to flex your pure visual muscles—generating logos, iconography, and high-fidelity mockups that set the tone for new features. Prototyping & Systems: You’ll build "holdable" web prototypes to bring new site tools to life. You understand that "bespoke" must eventually meet "scalable," and you’ll help design the templates and systems that allow our storytelling to grow. How We Build (The Vibe-Code Workflow) We don't do "handoffs." We work in the gray space between the canvas and the browser. Vibe Coding with AI: You use LLMs (Cursor, Claude, or similar) as a force multiplier. You’re comfortable "designing in code"—using AI to help you see how a transition or a layout actually feels in the browser before it ever hits a production repo. Visual Polish is a Team Sport: Whether you're in Figma or the browser, you sweat the details. You have a "print-mag" level of obsession with typography and a sharp eye for modern UI. Bespoke vs. Scalable: You can switch gears from a one-off interactive feature to thinking about how that feature becomes a reusable template for the entire CBS Sports ecosystem. Your Toolkit: AI + The Browser AI-Native: AI is the bedrock of your workflow. You use it to generate logic, explore edge cases, and build interactive components quickly. Strong Visual DNA: You have a high bar for craft. You are as comfortable designing a logo or an icon set as you are mapping out a complex interactive scroll experience. Systems Thinking: You understand the foundational architecture of digital products. You know how to work within a design system while knowing exactly when to push the boundaries for a bespoke project. Technical Literacy: You have a functional understanding of CSS/HTML and how the web works. You don’t need to be a developer, but you need to be confident enough to direct AI tools to build what you envision. Ambiguity Tolerance: We are building the plane while flying it. You have high agency and don’t need a rigid spec doc to start "vibing" on a solution. The Receipts (Qualifications) Portfolio of Living Work: We want to see live web links or high-fidelity prototypes. Show us where your visual craft and interaction decisions meet. The AI Workflow: Be prepared to talk about how you use AI tools (Cursor, Claude, etc.) to move faster and build more complex experiences than you could on your own.
