Additional Job Description

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medical Oncology seek a General Hematologist/Oncologist (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Bridgeport, West Virginia. In addition, the candidate may be assigned to additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Travel is anticipated and expected to fulfill duties at these sites.

Duties

The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Hematology/Oncology. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications

Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Must have completed an Internal Medicine residency program and a Hematology/Oncology fellowship program. Must be board certified or eligible in Hematology and Medical Oncology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.

The Cecil B. Highland, Jr. & Barbara B. Highland Cancer Center at UHC is recognized by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer as a Community Comprehensive Cancer Program. The center provides the entire continuum of cancer related services from prevention/early detection screening and education to surgery, medical and radiation oncology, inpatient and outpatient therapies, home care and hospice services. UHC’s cancer navigator program is the largest in North Central West Virginia, providing comprehensive and compassionate guidance to patients and their families throughout their cancer care and survivorship.
