Job Overview Registered Nurse (RN) – Ortho Trauma/Amputee DaysDay Shift – United States of America Department: Inpatient – Ortho Trauma/ Amputee Employment type: Full time – Days Compensation: Starting at $34/hr (eligible for increase based on experience). Shift differentials and sign‑on bonuses available. Hours: 36hrs/week, 7:00am – 7:30pm. Days worked: Rotating schedule; weekend requirement. Key Responsibilities Registered nurses coordinate, direct, delegate, and provide care to patients within the scope of their license, certification or registration and as required by law and regulation. Each RN develops relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, enhances care quality through compassion and courtesy, and follows departmental policies and service standards. Quality Pillar of Excellence – Responsible for all nursing care at Mary Free Bed, ensuring patient‑centered plans of care that align with physician and interdisciplinary priorities; coordinate care for non‑licensed staff through delegation and follow‑up. Quality Improvement – Participate in performance improvement by identifying ways to improve care, reporting unexpected events or medical errors, and contributing to data collection and documentation audits. Patient Safety – Promote safety for all patients; understand and contribute to departmental safety initiatives; identify and report unexpected events and near misses; communicate threats to patient safety to the Nursing Leadership Team. Customer Service – Demonstrate excellent customer service standards and behaviors with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues; handle confidential information discreetly; recognize cultural and religious needs of patients and integrate them into patient‑specific plans of care. Physician and Colleague Relationships – Maintain effective working relationships with admitting and consulting physicians and other interdisciplinary team members. Employee Competency and Professional Work Environment – Perform within policies, procedures, and standards of care; demonstrate competency; foster a culture of personal accountability, solution‑seeking behavior, mutual respect, and open communication. Employee Safety – Follow all employee safety policies; identify and reduce risks; maintain a safe physical work environment. Staff Selection, Development and Mentoring – Assist with employee selection, orientation, and mentorship of new team members; provide comprehensive orientation and support for nurses and RN students. Financial Performance Pillar of Excellence – Follow departmental policies related to payroll and patient chargeable items; identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency. Qualifications Licensure: Registered nurse in the state of Michigan. Education: Associate’s degree in nursing required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Certification: Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN) preferred; all newly hired staff must achieve CRRN by 3rd anniversary. Mary Free Bed will fund training and certification. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Experience: Prior RN experience (rehabilitation or acute care) preferred but not required. Skills: Strong critical thinking, decision‑making, delegation, leadership, time‑management, and organizational skills; effective written and verbal communication; ability to work under time pressures and prioritize effectively. Physical Requirements: Up to 10lb. (none otherwise). Must be able to remain in a stationary position or move around the work location as needed. Must be competent with computer systems for documentation. Must follow department policies related to exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and hazardous materials.
