Job Title: Pre-Press Assistant Job Description

The Pre-Press Assistant is responsible for overseeing the ordering of all inks, bases, and additives, as well as managing die mounting parts. The role involves cleaning and preparing dies, plates, and parts, and mounting and repairing printing plates to maintain the production schedule. The Pre-Press Assistant will stage printing plates and samples for delivery in production runs and change, stage, and prepare printing plates for machinery. The candidate will also handle incoming print plates, both new and transferred, by staging and entering them into the system. Operating a forklift to retrieve materials from inventory and picking items are also part of the job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee ordering of all inks, bases, and additives.
• Order and maintain die mounting parts.
• Clean and prepare dies, plates, and parts.
• Mount and repair printing plates to maintain production schedule.
• Stage printing plates and samples for production runs.
• Change, stage, and prepare printing plates for machinery.
• Manage incoming print plates by staging and entering them into the system.
• Operate forklift to retrieve materials from inventory.
• Pick items as required.
• Prepare FO jackets with load tags, print cards, and FO's.
• Conduct ink inventories and prepare ink orders for runs.
• Maintain color matching process.
• Maintain control over all systems and procedures for handling internal print plates, cutting dies, and inks.
• Oversee inventory and maintenance of the prepress area.

Work Environment

The work environment is extremely automated and laid-back, focusing on quality. Employees are required to wear steel toe boots, and the attire is jeans or work pants and a shirt. Safety glasses are provided. The second shift operates from 2 PM to 10 PM, with training conducted during the first shift.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
