As a Peer Support Specialist, you will provide mentorship and support to individuals receiving treatment for substance use and mental health challenges. Your lived experience and recovery journey will serve as a foundation to empower and guide others in developing healthy coping strategies, building resilience, and achieving personal goals.
Key Responsibilities- Offer peer-based support to clients in individual and group settings
- Use lived experience to build trust and inspire hope in recovery
- Help clients navigate community resources and develop life skills
- Collaborate with clinicians, case managers, and other team members
- Assist clients in setting and achieving personal recovery goals
- Promote self-advocacy and empower clients to take charge of their wellness
- Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions
- Must have lived experience with substance use recovery
- Ability to share your recovery journey in a professional and supportive way
- Strong communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
- Driver's License
- High school diploma or GED
- Peer Support Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Must be able to pass a background check and meet state/federal requirements
