Responsibilities
Job Summary: As a Maintenance Partner, you'll function in a team environment, reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader with direct responsibilities to the Production Team Leader and Team. You'll provide technical support to ensure a safe environment, producing safe, high-quality product, in a timely manner, at the best cost possible. Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:- Maintains manufacturing processes and equipment in optimum condition; integrates several process techniques focused on achieving high levels of overall process effectiveness (TPO)
- Applies fundamental understanding of team in development and active participation in a team environment through Division and Plant team orientation, safety and quality training, and Level I Team skills
- ELECTRICAL Operates meters and testing equipment, programmers, and soldering tools (e.g., voltmeters, amp meters, micrometers, meggers, programmers, test instrumentation, dial indicators)
- ELECTRONICS Operates computers (desktop programs) and appropriate tools; adjusts set points and machine controls (e.g., digital volt ohmmeter, handheld amp probe and held voltage tester, logic probes, CRT equipment)
- HYDRAULIC Operates / sets up hydraulic pumps and 3-way piloted and 4-way valve systems
- MECHANICAL Operates shop equipment (e.g., grinders, drills, saws, threaders, lathe, mill); starts up processing equipment, building equipment, and refrigeration systems
- WELDING Sets pressures on oxyacetylene equipment, arc welder, carbon arc welder, electrode welder, and tig welder
- BUILDING SYSTEMS Repairs plant equipment
- ELECTRICAL Installs conduits and voltage motors; repairs / replaces fuses, lamps, breakers, switches (e.g., wiring controls, power circuits0; uses standard brand of limit, micro switches, starters, control devices
- ELECTRONICS Installs / repairs / replaces / calibrates 4-20 milliamp sensor circuits; programs PLC
- HYDRAULIC Replaces cylinders, valves, and pumps; performs preventative maintenance (e.g., 4-way / Vickers valves)
- MECHANICS Replaces various shafts and bearings, filters, belts, chains, sprockets, and sheaves (using instruction manuals and parts lists); maintains / repairs processing equipment, building equipment, and refrigeration systems; sets mechanical functions on various tracking conveyors; assists in installation of new systems (including bearing)
- PNEUMATIC Replaces air cylinders, valves, and pumps; performs PM
- WELDING Prepares surfaces; selects correct welding rod; cuts / welds (metals, stainless steel, copper pipe, silver solder, soft solder joints)
- ELECTRICAL Inspects plant / OSHA-related items; generates work orders for repairs of loose connections
- HYDRAULIC Monitors system pressures; compares to standards
- MECHANICS Monitors various system temperatures and pressures; performs OSHA inspections for compliance on guards, cylinders, and unsafe conditions
- PNEUMATIC Monitors system pressures; compares to standards; writes up repair / rebuild order
- REFRIGERATION / HVAC Monitors system pressures and temperatures; compares to standards; inspects systems for leaks; monitors fluid levels including glycol levels proper ratios
- Performs preventative maintenance
- ELECTRICAL Applies proper lock-out / tag-out on all electrical equipment
- BUILDING SYSTEMS Uses forklift and pallet jack manuals to troubleshoot plant equipment; troubleshoots low temperatures / pressures in hot water systems, lost power; isolates problems
- ELECTRICAL Troubleshoots all systems with / without schematics and photoelectric sensing equipment
- ELECTRONICS Controls power or programming fault, Modicon / Allen-Bradley PLCs, and PID control devices
- HYDRAULIC Troubleshoots hydraulic pump, receiver tank, and proper pressure settings
- MECHANICS Identifies problems with gearboxes, pumps, valves, and other basic system components, including vacuum conveyor system
- PNEUMATIC Troubleshoots systems
- REFRIGERATION / HVAC Troubleshoots refrigeration systems (e.g., ammonia, glycol, freon); isolates problems
- Reads blueprints (electrical, mechanics, welding)
- Draws / designs blueprints to repair / modify / construct / make process changes (mechanics)
- Makes changes to system design (hydraulic, pneumatic)
- Experience in maintenance - Required
- Experience in electrical / mechanical / equipment (for building & process) repair - Required
- Experience completely disassembling process equipment and repairing, improving, and reassembling for re-use - Required
- Strong working knowledge of all aspects of plant equipment maintenance operation (e.g., equipment troubleshooting, electrical, refrigeration, machine shop operation, welding, brazing soldering) - Required
- Strong aptitude and abilities in industrial plant, mechanical, or electrical work - Required
- Specific to assigned functional area: - Required
- BUILDING SYSTEMS
• Understanding of the theory of water distribution and its components, including heat exchangers, water softeners, and water heaters
• Understanding of electrical distribution system and how to identify its components - ELECTRICAL
• Ability to identify standard brand of limit, micro switches, starters, and control devices
• Understanding of installation of 110V circuit for control voltage and how to identify appropriate use of such systems
• Knowledge of how to electrically install different voltage motors - ELECTRONICS
• Knowledge of how to burn chips and program systems
• Understanding of ladder logic diagrams
• Knowledge of basic programming of a PLC - EQUIPMENT OPERATION
• Skills using voltmeters, ammeters, meggers, calipers, dial indicators, refrigeration test instrument micrometers, electronic test equipment (e.g., programmers), machinist equipment and tools, hydraulic test equipment, hand and industrial power tools - HYDRAULIC
• Knowledge of how to repair receiver tank
• Knowledge of how to troubleshoot hydraulic systems, (Vickers valve, 4-way valve, pie press system)
• Understanding of the difference between a larger diameter cylinder and a longer cylinder - MECHANICS
• Knowledge of how to operate, start up, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair some processing equipment, building equipment, and refrigeration systems
• Knowledge of OSHA compliance requirements for guards, cylinders, and unsafe conditions
• Understanding of how to install new equipment
• Understanding of vacuum conveyor systems
• Understanding of how to read and design blueprints to repair, modify, and construct equipment and make process changes - PNEUMATIC
• Knowledge of how to troubleshoot pneumatic systems and 4-way air valves
• Understanding of application difference between hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Understanding of how a rodless cylinder works - REFRIGERATION / HVAC
• Knowledge of how to troubleshoot refrigerator systems and isolate problems (e.g., ammonia, glycol, freon systems) - WELDING
• Ability to read and understand blueprints
• Understanding of why welding rods are covered with flux
- HS Diploma or GED - Required
- Travel by car or plane with overnight stays
- Regularly lift up to 20 lbs
- Occasionally lift 20 lbs or more
- Work extended hours
- Work rotating schedules
- Maneuver through the facility and perform functions of the job, with or without accommodation (standing, stooping, bending, etc.)
- Work in wet, cold, or hot environments, depending on Plant location, where temperatures are:
• Snacks: temperature-controlled environment ranging from 80-100 degrees F
• Floral: temperature-controlled environment ranging from 32-42 degrees F
• Meat: routinely 30-45 degrees F in a cold and wet environment, occasionally (-)20 or 85 degrees F in certain areas
• Milk: routinely 60-80 degrees F in a wet environment, occasionally 38 degrees F in certain areas, 110 degrees in others
• Ice Cream: (-)40 to 80 degrees F, certain areas in a wet environment
• Bakery: 80-100 degrees F
• Tortilla: 80-100 degrees F
