Staff Nurse (Registered Nurse/License Practical Nurse)

Overview PRN POSITIONS AVAILABLE SELECT SHIFTS STARTING AT $44/hour for RN and $40/hour for LPN Responsible to provide direct nursing care to the customer, and to supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by the nursing assistants. Such supervision must be in accordance with current Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, facility policies. The objective is to ensure the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times. Responsibilities Provide direct nursing care to customers and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants, in accordance with applicable standards and policies, to ensure high-quality care. Directs and coordinates nursing procedures and protocols as per established policies. Directly supervise and instruct nursing staff to promote job knowledge and ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures, including dress code. Attend and actively participate in customer care plan conferences and maintain an atmosphere of warmth and calm throughout the department. Maintain and complete required assessments, charting, and documentation; review and ensure accuracy of medication records and orders; prepare and administer medications as ordered by physicians. Coordinate with physicians, family members, and other personnel regarding patient care, changes in conditions, and treatment plans. Participate in continuing education and notify Administrator of concerns or complaints as appropriate. Assist in developing written plans of care and ensure care plans reflect customer needs. Perform routine rounds to supervise nursing personnel and ensure procedures are followed; conduct rounds with physicians as necessary. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and infection control practices. Qualifications Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as an RN or LPN in the State of Illinois and/or Wisconsin. Must possess current CPR certificate or become certified within two weeks of employment. Knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures; interest and/or knowledge in care of the aged. Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly; able to make independent decisions when warranted. Ability to interact tactfully with customers, family members, visitors, personnel, and other stakeholders. Leadership and supervisory abilities; ability to work harmoniously with other personnel. Personable, enthusiastic, and resourceful. Physical Requirements Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday and cope with mental and emotional stress. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that enable these senses to function adequately. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and hostile individuals. May be required to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, and customers in excess of fifty (50) pounds. Exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and conditions (e.g., HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B) as part of the role. Essential Functions Accept and support directives from appropriate authority; adapt to different floors, customers, workloads, and tasks as assigned. Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct nursing services for the unit. Ensure nursing procedures and protocols are followed; supervise and mentor staff. Maintain compliance with department policies and dress code; participate in patient care planning and care plan conferences. Record and report customer care needs, concerns, and changes in condition; coordinate with physicians and families. Chart nurses’ notes, complete admissions, discharges, and transfers, and document care appropriately. Prepare and administer medications and treatments as ordered; review medication records for accuracy and policy compliance. Assist in orienting new customers and family members to the facility; arrange for diagnostic and therapeutic services as ordered. Ensure the care plan is followed and the care team is informed of changes; attend meetings as directed. Perform other related duties as assigned.
