Connect Staffing is hiring an experienced Intraocular Lenses Machinist for a medical device and optical technology manufacturer in Ontario, CA. This is a temp-to-hire position paying $21/hr. In this role, you will operate Optoform lathes and mills to machine hydrophobic and multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs), then inspect finished lenses using microscopes and comparators for surface defects and dimensional accuracy. This is a long-term placement with a global leader in optical and medical technology.

Pay: $21/hr

Schedule: Mon–Fri 1:30 PM–10:00 PM, must be available to work overtime (10 or 12 hour shift, and Saturdays) as needed

Overtime: Weekly OT required (~58 hrs OT/wk when applicable); Saturday OT mandatory when scheduled

Responsibilities

• Operate Optoform lathes and mills in 1PC and 3PC machining cells to produce hydrophobic and multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) to dimensional and optical specifications.
• Read and interpret lens drawings and overlays to verify setup and output.
• Perform in-process inspections per assigned quality specs, measuring IOL dimensions, diopter, back focal length (BFL), and image quality.
• Apply CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machining principles to monitor, adjust, and troubleshoot equipment during production runs.
• Complete work orders and production records accurately following GDP (Good Documentation Practices).
• Maintain machining cell cleanliness, vacuum lines, and utility connections including airlines and power hookups.

Minimum Requirements

• 1+ year of CNC machining experience, or completion of college coursework or technical training in machining.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience machining precision optical or medical device components.
• Familiarity with Optoform lathes or diamond-turning equipment used in lens manufacturing.
• Experience using microscopes, optical comparators, or similar inspection equipment for dimensional and surface quality checks.
• Knowledge of GDP (Good Documentation Practices) or GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) in a regulated manufacturing environment.
• Exposure to quality systems such as ISO 13485 or FDA-regulated production.
• Experience working in cleanroom or controlled-environment manufacturing settings.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, overlays, or similar manufacturing documentation.
