Schedule Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, typical shift 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Job Description Registered nurse (RN, RN II, RN III) performs professional nursing activities in the care of patients so they may achieve or regain, and then maintain, maximum physical, emotional or social functions. The registered nurse’s role is governed by the Nurse Practice Act, the administrative code in the state of employment, professional nursing standards, and the policies and procedures of Rogers Memorial Hospital (Rogers). Responsibilities Complete initial assessments and document as required. Collect, record, and analyze admission assessment data—including patient strengths, limitations, cultural, spiritual, and ethnic factors, discharge needs, medical/physical status, medication history, and age‑specific information—and involve the patient’s support system. Observe and document patient–family interaction when relevant to treatment. Obtain assessment data from support systems when appropriate. A·ct as a patient advocate: explain rights, obtain consents and signatures, protect privacy, and provide orientation while respecting family stressors. Initiate and update the treatment plan; participate in care conferences; modify plan of care; write clear, concise goals; review goals as they are achieved or changed. Review lab data, evaluate risk of falls, self‑abuse, suicidality, and assaultive behavior; develop age‑appropriate interventions; assess status changes; and document interventions. Demonstrate safe medication administration—right patient, medication, dose, route, and time—while maintaining knowledge of pharmacology, adverse reactions, and interactions; conduct and document patient education. Use de‑escalation techniques (quiet room, seclusion, restraints) and re‑evaluate safety level; identify withdrawal syndromes, neuroleptic malignant syndrome signs, cardiac or respiratory emergencies requiring immediate intervention. Organize and prioritize patient care activities, align with patient, unit, and time constraints, and integrate cultural and age‑specific needs. Ensure adherence to EMTALA and related regulations for admissions, transfers, and related patient care activities. Maintain nursing standards, infection control, safety, and environmental hazard prevention. Participate in continuing education, in‑services, performance improvement, and unit standards development. Serve as charge nurse or team leader, coordinating unit activities, crisis situations, admissions, and therapeutic milieu; manage patient care assignments; maintain unit orderliness. Supervise and delegate tasks to LPNs and psychiatric technicians, accounting for their training and abilities. Provide acuity data to the Patient Accounts department to aid accurate billing. Engage in unit‑based committees, projects, and professional development; maintain and pursue unit/department improvement goals. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) preferred. Registered nurse licensed by the State Board of Nursing in the state of employment and in good standing. Household CPR certification required within thirty (30) days of hire; bi‑annual recertification. Formal training in management of aggressive patients required within sixty (60) days of hire; annual recertification. Previous psychiatric experience with children, adolescents, and adults preferred. Qualified Medical Professional (QMP) designation may be required; competence evaluated and potentially renewed annually. Experience with HFS §40 psychiatric clinical settings or training in psychiatric nursing for children preferred.
