Job Overview A law firm seeks a highly motivated Patent Agent/Advisor to join its patent counseling and prosecution practice in San Diego. The ideal candidate will possess industry experience and a degree in material, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering. This role requires a broad understanding of chemical engineering and material science. Duties Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses. Analyze patent and scientific papers to assist attorneys in prosecution, counseling, and litigation. Draft patent applications and responses to office actions. Requirements At least one year of law firm experience. Superb technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English. Initiative, fast learning ability, and teamwork skills. Registered US patent agent or eligibility to sit for the USPTO registration exam. Education Degree in material, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or related field). Advanced degree is a plus. Certifications Registered US patent agent or eligibility for USPTO registration exam. Skills Broad scientific knowledge in mechanical and/or biomedical engineering.
