RN - Registered Nurse- Observation Unit

Geisinger is hiring an Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) to work in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley (GWV) location. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care in a clinical environment, participate in interdisciplinary teams, and contribute to unit quality and safety initiatives. Work schedule: Days (7a.m.–7:30p.m.), with every other weekend and holiday duties. Weekly hours are 36. Responsibilities Complete patient assessments in accordance with scope of practice and unit standards. Address the physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Formulate, coordinate, and implement a plan of care, including education and discharge planning, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies per policy. Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based on patient response. Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other team members to proactively resolve patient needs. Problem‑solve, troubleshoot, and take corrective measures concerning equipment and care processes. Participate in unit‑based decision‑making regarding evidence‑based practice utilization. Act as a team member working toward unit and organizational goals, being accountable for unit and system metrics. Participate in patient quality and safety education programs and activities aimed at improving departmental and organizational quality. Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and job‑specific obligations. Qualifications and Licensure Graduate from a Specialty Training Program in Nursing (Required); Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Preferred). Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania (RN_State of Pennsylvania). Basic Life Support certification (default issuing body). Clinical skills, communication, interpersonal communication, organizing, preceptor skills, teamwork. Benefits Full health, dental and vision benefits starting on day one.
