AWS Cloud Database Administrator

What You Will Do We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Database Administrator (DBA) to design, deploy and manage highly available, secure, and scalable database solutions in the AWS cloud. Focus on optimizing database performance, ensuring data security, and driving automation for database operations. Operate across multiple AWS database services, design modern data architectures, and collaborate with developers, architects, and DevOps teams to deliver reliable data solutions. Design, implement, and manage AWS‑managed databases including RDS (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.), devise high‑availability, replication, failover, and disaster‑recovery strategies, and migrate on‑premises databases to AWS using DMS or native tools. Monitor performance, tune queries and indexes, implement caching via ElastiCache or Redis, and proactively resolve performance bottlenecks. Implement encryption, access controls, and key management with KMS and IAM, ensuring compliance with standards such as HIPAA, FedRAMP, and SOC 2. Automate provisioning, backups, restores, and monitoring through IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation). Integrate database operations into CI/CD pipelines and manage cost optimization. Set up monitoring and alerting with CloudWatch and Performance Insights, troubleshoot complex issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, and implement preventive measures. Work closely with developers, architects, and QA to ensure smooth releases. What You Will Need US citizenship or Green Card required; must obtain a Public Trust clearance. Bachelor’s degree or four (4) years of business experience may be used in lieu of a degree. 4‑8 years of DBA experience, with at least 2+ years in AWS cloud environments. Expertise in AWS database services (RDS, Aurora, Dynamo DB, ElastiCache, etc.). Strong SQL skills and experience with relational and NoSQL databases. Proficiency with migration and replication tools (AWS DMS, SCT, native replication). Ownership of discovery, data‑ops handoff, and continuity during cutovers. Ensuring uptime SLAs, resource usage policies, backup, downtime, migration, and disaster‑recovery procedures. Experience with AWS services such as Aurora (Postgres), DocumentDB, ElastiCache (Redis), CloudFront, S3, Athena, Kinesis, QuickSight. Hands‑on scripting (Python, Bash). Ability to work autonomously, mentor and support team members on reliability problems. Familiarity with DevOps practices and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK). Knowledge of networking, security, and IAM as applied to databases. No visa sponsorship available for this position. What Would Be Nice To Have AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate (highly desirable). AWS Certified Solutions Architect or other specialty certifications. Salary The annual salary range for this position is $77,000.00–$129,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including skill sets, experience, security clearances, licensure, certifications, and business needs.
