Saugus Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician to join our collaborative patient-focused team. We are a busy three-doctor small animal practice committed to providing exceptional patient care while fostering a supportive positive environment for both our clients and team members.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during appointments treatments and procedures
• Safely restrain patients for examinations diagnostics and treatments
• Collect blood urine fecal and other laboratory samples
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratories
• Prepare exam rooms treatment areas and surgical suites
• Monitor hospitalized patients and report changes in condition
• Assist with anesthesia monitoring surgical preparation and patient recovery (based on experience)
• Administer medications and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
• Take and process radiographs
• Educate clients on medications preventive care and discharge instructions
• Maintain accurate medical records
• Help keep the hospital clean organized and running efficiently

Qualifications

Were looking for candidates who have:

• Previous experience working as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician (required)
• Strong patient restraint and animal handling skills
• Experience with laboratory procedures radiology and patient care
• Surgical and anesthesia experience is a plus
• Excellent communication and client service skills
• The ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
• A positive attitude strong work ethic and willingness to support the team

Schedule

• Full-time position
• Choose between four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts
• One Saturday shift each month is required
