Architectural Estimator

The Architectural Estimator is responsible for supporting the profitability and successful execution of projects during the preconstruction and bidding phases. This role prepares detailed and accurate cost estimates for structural and architectural scopes of work and collaborates closely with project management, operations, and subcontractors. This position reports to the Preconstruction Manager (or Director of Estimating) and is a full‑time, salaried‑exempt position. Your Role Interpret contract drawings, specifications, and bid documents Perform detailed quantity take-offs for structural and architectural components Prepare accurate conceptual, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates Solicit, analyze, and evaluate subcontractor, vendor, and supplier pricing Develop bid summaries, scope comparisons, and leveling sheets Identify constructability issues, risks, and value engineering opportunities Collaborate with project managers, superintendents, engineers, and owners during Preconstruction Assist with change order pricing and cost impact analysis Maintain estimating databases, historical cost data, and pricing models Support bid strategy development and participate in bid reviews All other duties as needed and assigned by management Follow all Company Policies/Procedures regarding security, discrimination & harassment-free environment, compliance with the Code of Ethics, and Business Conduct Your Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3+ years of experience in construction estimating with structural and/or architectural scopes Experience estimating industrial, heavy civil, or complex commercial projects preferred Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Experience with labor productivity, material pricing, and subcontractor markets Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, HCSS, or similar) Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills Personal commitment to team environment, safety, customer satisfaction, and quality What You Bring to the Team Outstanding attention to detail and cost accuracy Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Proactive, self‑motivated, collaborative, and deadline‑driven Ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment Strong negotiation and relationship‑building skills Positive attitude and team‑first mindset Work Environment / Physical Demands Primarily office‑based with occasional site visits Ability to visit active construction sites and safely navigate uneven terrain Ability to lift to 25 lbs. as needed Prepared to encounter active construction environments, including varying weather conditions Group health & welfare benefits including options for medical, dental, and vision Company Benefits: Employee Life Insurance & Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), Spouse and Dependent Life & AD&D, Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD), Employee Assistance Program and Health Advocate Voluntary benefits at discounted group rates for accidents, critical illness, and hospital indemnity Flexible Time Off Program (includes vacation and personal time) Paid Sick and Safe Leave Paid Parental Leave Program 10 Paid Holidays 401(k) Plan (company matching contributions up to 4%) Employee Referral Program Equal Opportunity Employer, including disabled and veterans Pay range: $80,000 – $100,000 annually Please note that all positions require pre‑employment screening, including drug and background check, as a condition of employment.
