Unit Details

Department: 2nd Floor ICU Unit Size: 17 Beds Shift: Days | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend On-Call: None

Candidate Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of recent ICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted with 3+ years ICU experience
• CRRT (NxStage) experience strongly preferred
• EPIC experience preferred

Required Certifications

• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)

Preferred Certification

• NIHSS

Medical ICU Cases

• COVID
• Sepsis
• ETOH withdrawal
• IV drug abuse/overdose
• Suicidal ideation
• Delirium
• GI Bleed
• Stroke patients with TPA/TNK
• Acute respiratory failure

Surgical/Cardiac Cases

• CABG & valve recovery
• Fem-pop bypass
• AAA repair
• Amputations
• Post-cath patients
• Open abdomen recovery
• Orthopedic, ENT & OB/GYN surgeries

Required Skills

• Ventilator & trach management
• Invasive line management (A-line, CVP, Swan-Ganz)
• Chest tubes & drain management
• Foley care
• Post-surgical recovery
• CVVH / CRRT (NxStage)
• Balloon pump experience
• Fresh heart recovery preferred

Ratios

• ICU RN: 1:2 (acuity-based)
• CNA: 1:8 Days | 1:17 Nights

• Intensivist coverage 24/7
• RT available 24/7
• ICU Pharmacist (days)
• Educator support
• Unit Secretary (days)
• Phlebotomy team
• Telemetry monitoring

Floating

Travelers float first to:

• Intermediate Care Units
• MSU
• ED Boarding
• Observation Units

Orientation

• 1-day orientation
• EPIC/login access setup
• Meet & greet with leadership
• Preceptor support during shift
