Our client is seeking a dedicated and innovative Functional Safety Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Functional Safety Engineer, you will be an integral part of the safety assurance process, supporting the development of cutting-edge autonomous robotic vehicles. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, proactive communication, and a passion for advancing safety standards within the industry.

Location: DFW/Texas; Mendon/Logan, Utah (open to remote work too)

What's the Job?
  • Identify hazards and risks using Systems Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA) to ensure vehicle safety and reliability.
  • Support the definition of safety requirements and implement measures throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety into design, development, verification, and validation processes.
  • Conduct safety analyses such as FMEA, FTA, and STPA to identify potential failure modes and mitigation strategies.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive safety documentation, including safety plans, cases, and reports, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
What's Needed?
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • 8-12 years of experience in functional safety engineering, preferably in robotics, automotive, or heavy machinery industries.
  • Relevant certifications such as CFSE, CFSP, AFSP, or similar credentials are highly preferred.
  • Proficient understanding of functional safety standards and safety lifecycle processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
