Job Description A General Manager must be committed to inspiring our team, helping our customers succeed, and growing our business with integrity. This professional-level sales and management position supports functions on both sides of the business, requires understanding of store and automotive systems, parts knowledge, and the ability to troubleshoot and support DIY projects. The General Manager develops and maintains professional customer relationships, drives program growth, and is accountable for achieving financial metrics while maintaining service and appearance standards. The role is exempt and requires a minimum of 50-55 hours per week, with an average schedule of 5-6 days a week, 11‑hour shifts, including rotating nights and weekends and an hour for lunch. Additional hours may be required based on staffing, store conditions, sales targets, and other business demands. Primary Responsibilities Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships and sales, including building and holding the team accountable to executing Customer action plans Select, hire, develop, manage performance, coach, schedule, and engage store team members Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards Coach all team members to deliver on customer expectations (DIY and Professional) Manage on‑duty responsibilities (touch base/coaching, floor/phone management, task assignment and completion, safety, open/close duties) Lead change management initiatives Embrace diversity and foster a respectful environment for both customers and team members Secondary Responsibilities Provide DIY service including battery installation, testing, wiper install, etc. Assist district/region in other functions upon request Success Factors Friendly communication Ability to locate and stock parts Safety knowledge and skills Capability to become ASE P2 certified or be ASE‑ready equivalent Ability to execute and train project and product quality recommendations Advanced parts lookup and sourcing skills Ability to source parts from multiple places, including special order, FDO, second source, etc. Ability to execute and train all store operational processes and procedures, including testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services Ability to execute and train inventory systems and store equipment Ability to execute and train POS and parts lookup systems Ability to review and analyze P&L statements Ability to recruit, select, hire, and develop quality team members Ability to build and grow relationships with professional customers Essential Job Skills Necessary for Success as a General Manager Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers, peers, and upper management Effective use of Microsoft software (Word, Excel required; PowerPoint preferred) Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, sales increases, and gross profit percent Ability to review and analyze business reports, such as P&L statements Hold others accountable, inspect work quality, and give feedback in an inspiring manner Ability to work an assortment of days, evenings, and weekends as needed Prior Experience that Sets a General Manager up for Success 2-3 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 members in a fast‑paced, highly dynamic retail environment Successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations High school diploma or GED; bachelor’s degree in business or a related area preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license. ASE Certification Preferred, But Not Required No specific requirement for ASE certification; however, an ASE certification is preferred. Physical Demands The physical demands of this role involve predominantly walking or standing, talking, hearing, using hands and fingers, reaching with arms, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and occasionally lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds and, on occasion, up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment The work environment is primarily indoor, with occasional outdoor duties exposed to various weather conditions while performing tasks such as installing batteries and wiper blades. The employee may also be exposed to moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock, explosives, and vibration. Noise levels are usually moderate. Compensation Range The estimated salary range for this role is 67,600.00 USD to 79,400.00 USD for a new team member. The actual rate offered is based on geographic location, retail experience, automotive knowledge, education, leadership roles, other skill sets, and shift differential (if applicable).
