Teacher for the Visually Impaired | Minatare, Nebraska

This contract opportunity offers the chance to serve as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) for the 2026-2027 school year, within a dynamic education cooperative setting. With a 1.4 FTE allocation, you will impact students across multiple districts, helping ensure equitable access to instruction and resources.


Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Experience working with K-12 students who are visually impaired or blind
• Comfortable adapting curriculum, materials, and technology for diverse learning needs
• Effective communication, consultative, and advocacy skills with students, families, and educational staff
• Skilled in conducting functional vision assessments and developing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Ability to travel periodically between school sites within the cooperative

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments, using varied instructional strategies and adaptive resources
• Collaborate with general and special education staff to modify classroom materials and environments for accessibility
• Advise and coach classroom teachers on inclusion techniques and accommodations
• Assess students' visual needs and document progress toward IEP goals
• Communicate proactively with families, therapists, and multi-disciplinary teams to coordinate services
• Support students' transitions and orientation/mobility goals as appropriate
