This position is located in Clearfield, Utah.This position will support the A Shift: Mon – Thur, 6:30 AM – 4:00 PM; Every other Friday 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM; noted schedule is approximate and includes a 30 minute, unpaid lunch break)Our team supports design and integration of tooling to support Aerospace composite part fabrication, handling, and assembly for the commercial and defense aerospace industries. Engineers get the opportunity to manage their work from design concept thru implementation. Our Tooling Team works independently, but interacts closely with safety, engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to achieve expectations.Primary Responsibilities:Manages and supports integration of new tooling from design through sustainmentSupervises and supports critical production builds involving technical tooling processesProvides communication to Integrated Product Team (IPT) leaders regarding cost and schedule including escalation of any technical issues.Works intimately with Manufacturing engineering to deliver tools that meet product build requirements.Recommends and often leads continuous improvement activities to support cost savings and cost avoidance targets.Manages external Tooling Design/Fabrication Shops on Design/Build projectsProofs tooling upon receipt in a production environmentUses Microsoft applications to communicate and present tooling progressSecondary Responsibilities:Supports the tool design group with design projects and tasks which include 3D modeling, 2D drafting and checkingConcepts and designs special tooling within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) structureUses and/or manages Computer Aided Design (CAD) resources for tooling design (primarily NX)Witnesses/approves source inspection of special tooling at supplier locations before acceptanceProvides tooling cost/schedule estimates for new tools and or tooling modificationsOur team enjoys a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, diverse assignments, and collaboration with internal and external customers. We pride ourselves in coming up with new ways to provide tooling that is safe, cost effective, and operationally efficient.This role may be filled at the Engineer (Level 2) or Principal Engineer (Level 3) based on the qualifications outlined below.Basic Qualifications:Tooling Engineer (Level 2)Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the businessBachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 1 years of relevant engineering experience; or Masters Degree in STEM discipline and 0 years of engineering experienceExperience in design, fabrication and implementation of tooling used in the manufacture of composite partsExperience with project management and communication skillsExperience with general metallic fabrication including welding and machiningExperience with 3D CAD systemsExperience with creating free-body-diagrams and analyzing tooling for allowable stress and fatiguePrincipal Tooling Engineer (Level 3)Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time as determined by the needs of the businessBachelors Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 4 years relevant engineering experience; or Masters Degree in STEM and 3 years' engineering experience; or PhD and 0 years of engineering experienceExperience in design, fabrication and implementation of tooling used in the manufacture of composite partsExperience with project management and communication skillsExperience with general metallic fabrication including welding and machiningExperience with 3D CAD systemsExperience with creating free-body-diagrams and analyzing tooling for allowable stress and fatiguePreferred Qualifications:BS in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil EngineeringActive DoD Secret Security ClearanceExperience in a manufacturing environmentExperience with tooling for composites manufacturing and handlingExperience in design of molds, machining fixtures, handling, and assembly tools for composite manufacturingPrimary Level Salary Range: $72,100.00 - $108,100.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
