$52 - $55 LPT contracts in California Corrections Clinics

Provides care for mental health patients by administering medication, monitoring behavior, and assisting with daily living activities.

• $52 - $55 hourly depending on location
• 6a-2:30p AND 2p - 10:30p shifts available
• 6 month to one year contracts that will extend

• Assist in the development of group and individual therapy regimens. Act as a provider of group therapy to patient/youth;
• Provide liaison activities with custody personnel in management of mentally or developmentally disabled patient/youth;
• Observe patients'/youths' physical condition and behavior, and report significant changes;
• Prepare and coordinate clinical appointment dates and times, and assist in having patient/youth present at their clinical appointments;
• Assist in first responder duties, such as giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as needed;
• Follow completely and accurately all documentation procedures as required by theCDCR/CCHCS; and
• Help to create a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patient/youth.

Qualification Requirements:

All Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians assigned to CDCR must have the  minimum experience outlined below:

• Twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years performing services similar in scope to those defined herein in a public or private institution. Internship does not count towards the required experience. 
• Possess and maintain while providing services to the CDCR a current and valid license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician in order to perform services in the State of California
• Any Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians providing services through this Agreement must be proficient in the English language and be able to communicate effectively with the CDCR/CCHCS.. All Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians must be able to speak, understand oral and written communication and write effectively in the English language. Any Temporary/Relief Psychiatric Technicians who fails to meet the minimum qualifications shall not be permitted to perform services. 

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to patients/youth with mental or developmental disabilities.
• Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitor patients/youth for signs and symptoms of mental illness.
• Under the general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD), perform psychiatric nursing procedures within the scope of licensure, including:
• • Administering medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections
  • Taking and documenting temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration
  • Performing other basic nursing procedures
• Collaborate with other disciplines as part of the treatment team to develop treatment plans, goals, and comprehensive programs based on patient/youth assessments.
• Assist in developing individual and group therapy programs and facilitate group therapy sessions.
• Coordinate with custody personnel regarding the management of patients/youth with mental or developmental disabilities.
• Observe patients’/youths’ physical conditions and behavior and report significant changes.
• Schedule and coordinate clinical appointments and assist in ensuring patients/youth attend their appointments.
• Perform first-responder duties, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and first aid, as needed.
• Complete all documentation accurately and in accordance with CDCR/CCHCS requirements.
• Help maintain a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for patients/youth.
