The hospital facility is home to the Knapp Cardiac Care Center—an advanced heart disease diagnostic and treatment facility—as well as a modern ambulatory surgical pavilion with specialized services including women's imaging, a sleep laboratory, and bariatric surgery. Our Provisional Level 2 Trauma Center delivers comprehensive and specialized care for patients with traumatic injuries. The Stroke Center at NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk is designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Primary Stroke Center, with expert neurologists available to provide treatment 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Additionally, NYU Langone Hospital—Suffolk has multiple outpatient sites, including an outpatient wound care center, a hemodialysis center, and various primary care and specialty offices.Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Registered Nurse -Emergency Department-Part Time- Night Shift-7p-7.30 a- Alternate weekend - NSG-Eme. In this role, the successful candidate executes professional nursing care in accordance with physician treatment plans in order to provide for the comfort and well-being of patients and their family or support system. In doing so, assesses the patient's needs, plans and implements the treatment plan, observes and evaluates the patient's progress and documents pertinent observations. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary health team to meet the holistic needs of the patient. Directs the delivery of nursing care by the other members of the nursing team. Participates in the orientation process of new employees.Job Responsibilities:The registered nurse collects patient health data by involving the patient, family and other health care providersPerforms initial assessment based on patient's presentation.Records relevant data on the nursing component of the Interdisciplinary Admission Assessment.Demonstrates awareness of the special needs of each age group or culture served as well as those patients with disabilities.Ongoing assessments are performed as established by department policy and as warranted by the patient's response.Incorporates discharge planning into the admission process.Analyzes the assessment data in determining problem identification. Current New York State license as a Registered Professional Nurse. BLS certification and de-escalation training ACLS (ICU, Float pool, Emergency Dept) TCAR Certification (SICU, PACU) For Emergency Dept: PALS, TNCC (within first year) Behavioral health RNs: CPI and BERT training within the first 6 months. *BLS, ACLS, PALS must be through AHA* Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with patients and their families that demonstrate recognition of cultural diversity Practice reflects customer service excellence. Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written format. Analytical ability to assess and develop solutions to clinical situations or unit problems. Maintains knowledge and proficiency in the clinical area and age group served. Ability to frequently lift/carry more than 75 lbs. Ability to frequently push/pull more than 100 lbs. Ability to frequently bend, squat, kneel, climb steps/ladder and reach above shoulders.Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYSPreferred Qualifications: For ED RN: 1 year Med Surg experience. For Med Surg Float Pool: 1 year Med Surg experience. For Critical Care: 1 year ICU/SDU experience. For ASU RN: 1 year critical care experience preferred. BSN preferred PALS preferred Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia (e.g. CAPA) preferred. 1 year of nursing experience in preoperative, perioperative, or post-anesthesia care preferred Experience in patient assessment, education, and care planning for pre and post-operative patients preferred Prior experience in discharge planning and coordination of perioperative patients preferred Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, including documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and discharge instructions preferred
