Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Performs all duties and activities in a manner that conforms to site specific safety requirements, company policy, state and federal regulations.

1. Examines and performs fueling and routine servicing, which includes -- perform pre-operational checks of equipment that include: walk around visual inspection, check fluid levels, safety equipment, tires, steering, brakes, etc. (See PA 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24)

2. Mounts and dismounts equipment by climbing or descending the boarding ladder or steps. (See PA 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 11, 14)

3. Operates equipment by moving levers, or steering-wheel and depressing pedals or operating other controls to stop, start, maintain proper speed, direction and complete task as required. (See PA 4, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 21, 22, 23, 24, 26)

Other Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Assist mechanic with repairs and maintenance.

2. Clean equipment as required.

3. Perform other duties as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Experience and knowledge to operate equipment.

2. Ability to recognize potential problems with equipment.

3. Know the lubrication and service requirements of the equipment being operated.

4. Know the Safe Job Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures for the equipment being operated, company safety policies, and applicable rules and regulations.

 

Working Environment/Physical Activities:

This position requires the operator to possess the dexterity (refer to Physical Demands Analysis) to work and operate machinery and equipment. The operator must constantly be attentive to the changing geological conditions and surrounding environment.

 

Education, Qualifications and Training:

Annual 8 hour refresher training

On-the-job experience

Vocational training (optional)

Other qualifications as required by contract, regulations, and/or management
