Medical Oncologist

Hematology / Medical Oncology Physician (MD/DO)The Hematology / Medical Oncology Physician provides comprehensive care for patients with benign and malignant hematologic disorders and solid tumors. This role includes evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing management of patients undergoing cancer therapy, with a strong emphasis on evidence-based, patient-centered care and multidisciplinary collaboration.Key Responsibilities:Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with hematologic disorders and oncologic diseasesDevelop and implement individualized treatment plans, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and supportive careProvide outpatient clinic care and inpatient consultative services as requiredMonitor patient response to therapy and manage treatment-related side effects and complicationsOrder, interpret, and review laboratory studies, imaging, and pathology reportsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgery, radiation oncology, pathology, radiology, and palliative careParticipate in tumor boards, care coordination meetings, and quality initiativesEducate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and supportive care servicesMaintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation in the electronic health recordParticipate in call coverage and after-hours responsibilities as applicableAdhere to clinical guidelines, safety standards, and regulatory requirementsQualifications:Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency programCompletion of an accredited Hematology and Medical Oncology fellowshipBoard eligible or board certified in Hematology and Medical OncologyActive or eligible state medical licenseDEA registration or eligibilitySkills and Competencies:Broad clinical expertise in hematologic and oncologic conditionsStrong clinical judgment and treatment decision-making skillsExcellent communication and patient counseling abilitiesAbility to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environmentCommitment to high-quality, compassionate, patient-centered careWork Environment:Outpatient oncology clinic with inpatient consult responsibilitiesSchedule and call coverage vary by practice model and patient volume
