• Transmission Line Engineer
• Location: West Palm Beach, FL
• Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 (DOE)
• Reports To: Transmission Supervisor

General Description The client is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Designer/Drafter to join our team in West Palm Beach, FL. This role is responsible for performing detailed drafting and design work, including the preparation of drawings, specifications, and estimates for review and approval by the responsible engineer. The designer will support Transmission Line Engineers and produce accurate, high-quality drawing packages for transmission, distribution, and streetlight projects.

This position requires strong expertise in CAD tools and industry standards, with a particular emphasis on PLS-CADD / PLS-POLE experience (deal breaker requirement) .

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed drafting and design for transmission, distribution, and streetlight projects.
• Provide drafting support for new transmission lines, maintenance, relocation, facility upgrades, and fiber optic projects.
• Prepare and maintain plan and profile drawings, permit packages, structural/electrical detail drawings, and construction book support.
• Work closely with engineers to gather requirements and understand project specifications.
• Create, maintain, and apply drafting standards, technical checklists, and redline procedures.
• Develop detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and PLS-CADD.
• Support permitting processes for transmission, distribution, and streetlight projects.
• Prepare as-built drawings and maintain documentation of design changes.
• Participate in project meetings, provide updates on drawing status, and ensure timely deliverables.
• Acquire on-site field data to support design requirements.
• Manage multiple drafting projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
• Provide technical guidance to junior designers as needed.
• Ensure all work complies with applicable CAD and engineering standards.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of relevant drafting/design experience (with no degree).
• Strong proficiency in PLS-CADD or PLS-POLE (mandatory requirement).
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Solid understanding of permitting authority rules, requirements, and standards.
• Background in mathematics with excellent technical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational and time management abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• Certification in drafting or design software.
• Experience in civil foundations, steel detailing, and electrical power equipment design.
• Familiarity with web-based design collaboration sites and drawing management systems.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to mentor junior staff.
