Principle Automotive is offering a structured training opportunity for individuals who have some automotive technical experience and want the mentorship, support, and time needed to grow. As an Automotive Technician Trainee, you will work directly alongside an experienced technician who will provide hands‑on instruction, guidance, and feedback. During your initial training period of at least 90 days, you will not be expected to produce flag hours. Your focus will be on learning proper repair procedures, strengthening your diagnostic abilities, developing efficient work habits, and building the confidence needed to succeed as a professional automotive technician. This position may support any of our locations throughout the San Antonio area based on business needs and available training opportunities. Requirements What You’ll Do Train alongside an experienced automotive technician Assist with vehicle inspections, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs Learn proper repair procedures and the correct use of tools and equipment Develop your diagnostic, electrical, and mechanical skills Follow dealership and manufacturer safety and quality standards Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Participate in assigned technical training and development activities Complete competency assessments every 30 days Take on additional responsibilities as your skills and confidence grow What We’re Looking For Some automotive repair, maintenance, technical school, or related hands‑on experience A genuine desire to learn and build a career in the automotive industry Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving abilities Dependability, professionalism, and a positive attitude A willingness to accept coaching and apply feedback The ability to work effectively as part of a team A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record The flexibility to work at different San Antonio‑area locations when needed Why This Is a Unique Opportunity At least 90 days of structured, hands‑on training No flag‑hour production pressure during the initial training period One‑on‑one guidance from an experienced technician Objective competency assessments every 30 days A supportive environment focused on learning and professional growth Opportunities to expand your technical skills and earning potential A defined path toward becoming a productive automotive technician Long‑term advancement opportunities within our organization Training and Advancement Competency assessments will be conducted every 30 days throughout the training period. These assessments will measure your progress in technical knowledge, work quality, safety, tool usage, diagnostic ability, efficiency, dependability, and readiness for additional responsibilities. Your results will be reviewed with you to recognize your progress, identify areas requiring additional development, and establish clear goals for the next 30‑day period. The length of the training period may vary based on demonstrated competency, individual progress, and business needs.
