Accounting Specialist

LHH Recruitment Solutions is recruiting for a highly organized and dependable Accounting Specialist / Office Administrator to support both financial functions and general office operations.

This role is in office. 9am-5pm. Direct hire career opportunity in the Syosset, NY area.

The position supports a range of accounting and bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial record maintenance. The Accounting Specialist / Office Administrator will also assist with day-to-day administrative and operational tasks, helping to ensure the office runs efficiently and smoothly.

This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable wearing multiple hats. The successful candidate will be able to balance accounting responsibilities with administrative support while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and clear communication in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Finance

  • Oversee accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, payment posting, and customer account reconciliation
  • Proactively manage collections and follow up on past-due accounts in a professional manner
  • Process accounts payable, including invoice entry, approvals, and payment coordination
  • Assist with bank and general ledger reconciliations under the direction of the Finance Manager
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized financial records
  • Assist with cash flow monitoring and basic financial reporting

Office Administration

  • Support daily office operations to ensure organization and efficiency
  • Serve as a primary contact for vendors, customers, and internal staff
  • Manage office supplies, ordering, and general administrative needs
  • Assist with scheduling, correspondence, and administrative requests
  • Provide operational support to internal teams as needed
  • Help maintain structured office systems and workflows
Qualifications & Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related role
  • Strong experience with accounts receivable and customer collections required
  • Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite or similar systems (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of core accounting principles
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities effectively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
