Corporate Controller Opportunity

NextStep Recruiting has partnered exclusively with a nationally recognized professional services organization to confidentially identify a Corporate Controller. This direct-hire leadership opportunity is fully onsite and will oversee the organization's accounting operations while serving as a strategic partner to executive and operational leadership.

This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who can balance strategy with execution. The organization is experiencing significant growth and needs someone who can strengthen an accounting infrastructure that has outgrown its existing processes and controls, drive meaningful change, and remain close enough to the details to ensure initiatives are successfully executed.

Required:

• Active CPA license and Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including Controller-level leadership or Assistant Controller experience with readiness to step into a broader leadership role
• Strong technical accounting foundation across GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Demonstrated success improving accounting operations, redesigning internal controls, implementing scalable processes, and driving continuous improvement within a growing organization
• Significant leadership experience managing accounting teams with the ability to establish KPIs, reporting metrics, accountability standards, and performance expectations
• Multi-entity accounting experience within legal, healthcare, professional services, or another complex, high-growth environment

Preferred:

• Experience leading large accounting organizations across functions such as AP, AR, client accounting, tax, treasury, and general accounting
• Hands-on ERP implementation or conversion experience; NetSuite implementation experience is highly desirable
• Experience partnering with executive and operational leadership to analyze performance, identify trends, improve profitability, and support organizational growth
• Proven ability to lead change from strategy through execution while remaining hands-on and willing to work within the details when necessary
