Medical Assistant I- OB/GYN - Wantagh, NY - Full time Days- Offsite

The Offsite Medical Assistant I provides clinical office support to physicians and surgeons, performing patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care. Responsibilities Fulfill patient care responsibilities, including checking schedules and organizing patient flow; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting with walking, transferring, dressing, collecting and processing specimens; performing point‑of‑care testing; preparing for exams; assisting physicians with procedures; taking vital signs; relaying instructions; answering calls. Handle clerical tasks: sending/receiving records; obtaining lab/x‑ray reports; completing requisitions; managing charts, both electronically and manually. Enter orders into electronic medical record or prepare prescription refill requests for physician review. Inventory and order or restock medical supplies. Set up examination rooms and instruments, following sterilization and infection control policies. Maintain logging system for refrigeration of medications, point‑of‑care testing, sterilization, crash cart, etc. Check expiration dates on medications and supplies, disposing per policy. Maintain a safe, secure, healthy work environment and comply with regulations. Comply with personal protective equipment requirements for exposure to blood, bodily fluids, chemicals, radiation, and other hazards. Assist in maintaining medical charts (filing, operative reports, test results, home‑care forms). May schedule surgeries/procedures, verify times with patients, prepare charts, pre‑admissions, consent forms. May perform phlebotomy duties. Schedule appointments, register patients, update demographics and insurance information. Adjust and confirm patient office schedule. Verify and update insurance information via internal or online sources. Verify pre‑certification for procedures as required. Perform other duties as assigned. Education requirements High School Diploma or GED. Certified Medical Assistant. Experience Requirements None required; 1–2 years preferred. Compensation Salary range: $23.98 to $31.46 hourly.
