PUBLIC WORKS - STREETS EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I

Are you ready to make a real impact on the roads our community relies on every day? The City of Nacogdoches is looking for a reliable and safety-conscious Equipment Operator I to join our Streets Division. In this role, you will play a key part in the maintenance, repair and construction of city streets, alleys and drainage systems.

What You'll Do:

• Safely operate light motorized equipment, including trucks, tractors and mowers used in maintenance and construction work.
• Assist in resurfacing, patching and maintaining city streets and drainage systems.
• Move materials like asphalt, gravel, dirt and stone to get the job done right.
• Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning and ordinary servicing on tools and equipment.
• Work safely in close proximity to high-speed vehicle traffic.
• Operate hand tools including saws, jackhammers and air compressors, as required.
• Work on a rotation with the call-out crew.

What We Need:

• High School diploma or GED; equipment operations experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of construction equipment operation, care and adjustment; public works construction methods and safe driving practices.
